At a meeting of the Southern Association of
Schools and Colleges held in Jacksonville, Flor-
ida, last week, the Byers high school with twenty
other high schools of Texas, gained admission to
this great body. There are only a few of the high
schools of Texas that meet the requirements for
membership in this Association. This will admit
the graduates from Bvers or any other schools
that are members to any I’niversity in the land
without question.
The people of Byers and school district
should feel very proud of the record that the
school has made. It is the first and only school
from Clay county to become a member of the as-
sociation. In fact the schools from this part of the
state that arc members are as follows: Wichita
Falls, Iowa Park, Eletcra, Burkburnett, Fair-
view, Seymour, Gainesville, Graham and Byers.
\ ou see what a territory those schools cover and
you see the number of schools that arc' not mem-
bers. It seems that we should l>o mighty glad of
the record that we have made'. Six years ago
without classification- now in the Greatest As-
sociation to be found.
