LAMPASAS GETS NICE RAIN
AND LOWER TEMPERATURE
Lampasas received a rainfall of
1:03 inches Thursday afternoon and
night, and the temperature dropped
to about 55 degrees. The tenipera-
tui-e hasn’t dropped as low this time
as it did about a month ago, although
the dampness makes it feel colder.
Reports from surrounding towns
indicate that the rainfall was rather
general for this section of Texas.
Lometa had one inch, Bend one-half
inch, Kempner one and one-half in-
ches, Lake Victor one-half to three-
quarter inches, and Adamsville had
a nice rain. This rain will be of
great benefit to the oat crops and to
the grass.

EMMETT TERRY PASSED AWAY
THURSDAY AFTERNOON
Funeral services for Emmett Terry
were conducted at 3:30 o’clock Fri-
day afternoon, Nov. 3, at the family
home and interment followed in Oak
Hill cemetery. Rev. D- H. Kirkpat-
rick, pastor of the Presbyterian
Church, had charge of the services.
Mr. Terry died at 5 o’clock Thurs-
day afternoon, Nov. 2, after an ill-
ness of three years. He was seri-
ously ill several timgs during the past
three years but a great part of the
time he was able to work. He work-
ed a little just a few days before
his death.
Mr. Terry was born in Coryell City,
September 11, 1875, making him 58
years of age at the time of death.
He was a son of Dr. J. C. Terry and
Mrs. Ellen Terry. He came to Lam-
pasas county with his parents when
a small child, and lived in the town
of Lampasas the last 35 years of his
life. On June 3, 1898, he was married
to Miss Lillie Ramsey and to this
union, two children were born. One
of the children, Mary Maxine, died in
1910. Mr. Terry is survived by his
wife, one son, Francis C. Terry o!
Lampasas; one sister, Mrs. Jeff Bul-
lock, who 1 ivies on Lampasas river;
three brothers, Clint Terry of Kemp-
ner, Steward and Clive Terry, also
live on Lampasas river.
Mr. Terry was one of the best
known and most respected business
men of Lampasas. He, in association
with his son, has operated Terry’s
Man’s Shop here for the past seven
years, and prior to that he was em-
ployed by other business firms of
Lampasas. He has been making-
business and personal friends in Lam-
pasas for the past 35 years. He
never sold merchandise in an imper-
sonal way, but he always became a
personal friend of his customers.
Practically everyone in Lampasas
county knew and respected him for
h i s honesty, unselfishness, and
Straight-forward dealings with his
fellowmanr'-Mr. Terry’s wife and son
have lost a kind, loving- husband and
father, hundreds of people in the
county have lost a true friend, and
Lampasas has lost one of its most
worthy and valuable citizens.
Pall bearers were Clinton Perry,
A. B. Ronald, Albert Culver, Frank
Cox, C. A. Northington and Earnest
Jones.
In order to pay due respect to a
fellow merchant, all business houses
remained closed Friday afternoon
during the funeral services.
