Miss Ruth Wells was operated on
for appendicitis Tuesday morning in
Temple at 9 o’clock, and reports from
there say she. is doing nicely.
Mrs. J. G.. Townsen and daughter,
Naomi, who have been visiting in the
home of Dr. and Mrs. Townsen, left,,
Sunday night for their home in Tus-
cola.
Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Allen arrived
Sunday night from an extended trip
north, having visited the Overland
factories at Toledo, Ohio, also New
York and other places of interest en
route. They are guests here of Mr.
and Mrs. Lee Scott and Mrs. W. W.
Allen.
Will Hallmark has bought the resi-
dence on Second street known as the
Groce place, and owned by Mrs. Cur-
ran. It is an old place but with some
remodeling can be made a very com-
fortable place. It has splendid shade
trees in the yard and close Into the
business center of the city.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl M. Wolf spent
Sunday here with Mrs. Matt Smith en
youte home from Temple, where Mr.
Wolf has been in the hospital. He is
getting along nicely now.'
MRS. JOHN MOORE, JR., DEAD.
Mrs. John Moore, Jr., who was
'taken to Temple -.one week ago Sun-
day and operated on for appendicitis,
died Sunday, July 25, and was
(brought home for burial Sunday even-
ing, and was taken out to her home on
Lampasas river where she was buried
Monday at Smith’s grave yard. Mrs.
Moore was the daughter of-Mr. and
Mrs. A. G. Clark, who also resides on
the Lampasas river. The bereaved
have the sympathy of numerous
friends.
Word was received here Monday
Urbait Ben Frank was critically ill at

Chris&Mtfe, of Waco, passed through
jLatwpasas on their way to Lometa,
for a visit. •
Dr. J. G. Tdwnsen • has purchased
the place on Grand Avenue owned by
S. B. Caldwell, and is now moving in-
to it, iand willisoonbe permanently set-
tled. He has been moving about
since he came to Lampasas, residence
property being in such demand, and
be decided the only way to live in
“peace and plenty” was to buy a
home. Elzy Smith purchased the
place he has been living in, and will
move to town from the Oakalla neigh-
borhood.
Mrs. Mary Wilkerson arrived Sun-
day morning from Wichita Falls and

Hill, in the home of Mrs. Herbert
Abney.
I Mr. and Mrs. Sid Casey, .who for-
merly lived in Lampasas, but make
their home in Belton now, are here
visiting in the home of Mrs. Annie
Baker.
Mrs. J. E. Vernor and little grand-
daughter, Mary Katherine Whitten-
burg, of San Angelo, left Monday
morning for Beaumont where they
will spend the week. Mrs. Vernor
will go from there to San Diego, Cal-
ifornia, to visit in the home of her
brother, J. H. Tucker. She will prob-
ably be gone two months or longer.
Mrs. Wm. Zimmerman, of the Es-
pyville neighborhood, left Monday
morning for Taylor to visit her sister
who is sick.
Announcement comes of the birth
of a son to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lee, on
Tuesday, July 20, at their home in
Dallas. Mrs. Lee is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. W. 0. Bowen.
Omar Warren spent Sunday here
with his sister, Mrs. J. 0. Beck. His
home is in Goldthwaite.
