The Emancipation celebration,
held out at 4-Syth’s Park last
Saturday, passed off nicely, and
the negroes seemed to enjoy the
day very much. The Longview

throughout the entire day.
Judge Woolworth, a prominent
attorney of Carthage, has been
spending a day or two in the
citv, and was pressed into deliv-
ering an address to an assem-
bled crowd last evening. From
an oratorical standpoint the ad-
dress was a masterpiece. The
Judge paid our town some very
high compliments, and expressed
delight that Carthage and Center
would soon be joined together by
rail at which time the people of
the two towns could get closer
together and work together for
the upbuilding of the chosen sec-
tion of the country which we
have in East* Texas.—Center
