You, Mr. Cttiion, are aching these type questions: How
much longor must Panola County carry the shamful title,
“Bloody Panolaf” How long art the decent people of this
clean community going to stand innocently by and let the
drunkards take the highways? Why can’t something be done
about the negligent, fast, unsafe driving on streets and high-
waydt.
Something can be done about It, and something will be
done, provided the willing co-operation of every cltisen is
gained in th%movement to wipe the intoxicated highway hi-
jackers off tha roadways. It take* eye witnesses, testimony*
and evidence, to bring about a termination of the happy
drunks long highway honeymoon. If you know a driver la
drunk, when he has an accident don’t shield him. You and
your family may be his next victims. Act quickly and earn
the respect of the entire cltlsenshlp by reporting liquor drivers
to local authorities. Officers havs pledged this

their co-operstion. Stmt® patrolmen have been in Carthage
this week and thsy are madder than a Wyoming wildcat about
the numeroua mishaps happening in Panola County. These
boys In blue are anxious to crack down on the speeding silly,
shocked up, shot up, steering wheel sots. It'll take a grand
jury with the right amount of Inner lining in the stomach, and
straight forward testimony from right thinking people to
get the doped drunks driven from the concrete streamers w#
call our highways, but it’ll be worth any sacrifice made to
get the job done well.
It’s up to the people. It’s a community campaign. The
newspaper has started the fight and we can win only with
the help of those charged to uphold the laws of this state
and with the honest, fearless, co-operation and solid sup-
port of the citizenship.
Let’s band together to wage a war of destruction on the
bandy-legged, beered up badboys. Let's return our county to
the list of honor and fight for the glimlnation of the stained
name, “Bloody Panola.*'
