j Wooten reminded the patrons of
the “Mothers’ Club,” and beg-
ged them to keep up the good
work so well begun during last
session.
Quite a number of parents
were present, and, altogether, it
looks like we are to have one of
the b^st schools in the history
of our little city.
Panola County fair.
The Panola County Fair will
open for its second annual ex-
hibit one week from today. Sept.
21, atid will continue till the fol-
lowing.8aturday, being the 21,
22, 28 and 24. Some very fine
exhibits have been secured. Sev-
eral^big shows will lie on the
grounds, fine racing, both run-
ning and harness, and many
other attractions too numerous
to mention. Kvery man, woman,
their recitation* well given, and j
they will attain to that round on I
the lador nf fame and learning)
called success. They will master |
all knotty problems, not only in
school, but in life. They will not
require punishing in order to
teach thorn the necessity of get-
ting their lessons. They study
because they love t"; are indus-
trious and energetic from prin-
cipal; thoir life will he a success.
Following comes another group
of boys whose lagging steps and
sullen faces show that the sound
of the bell grates harshly upon
their ears. Tnese boys will
prove unruly, unkind and. uhlike
the other class named, will take
but little interest in their work,
and at the end of the year, in
spite of a teacher’s earnest ef-
forts in their behalf, will be but
little farther advanced than In
the beginning.
We need not soy what the re-
sult will lie in the latter ease, but
to these lw»ys’ parents we wish to
•ay, try to cultivate in their
minds a love for the school and
school work. See to it that they
are in school every day; that
their report cards show a good
