1 THE RAMBLER and bis wife ob
served another wedding anniversary
Inst week. It was our sixth, and we
•re proud that we have lived these
•lx years together among the finest
people in Texas. Your writer and his
nrife are adopted cltisens. but our
children will always call Carthage
borne, for it is here they will gross
up with the other children of the
county. It is here they will always
love, and it is here that their par-
ents will try to school and rear them.
IThey are natves of Panola county and
we are proud for them. For the past
decade, your correspondent ban lived
1n Carthage and Panola county. He
has strived to be the friend of every
body. He has attempted to contribute
•d all times to the things for the
hast Intrest of the community and for
.the people we sOTve. He realises his
faults and shortcomings, but every
man has them. It Is Impossible to
live ten years In anybody's county
and keep free from displeasures. Bat
there ta one positive truth. Your
writer nor his wife, intends to drop
• single friend over any petty issue
which might arise to try to tear this
community asunder. It might be call-
ed cowardly not to get on one side
nr the oUier of a public question. But
U iwinr neutral in matters which
breed only discontent, animosity, and
turmoil is treasonable — then those
who are leading the parade and rid-
ing the great white ateed in th<
local wars ef hard feelings can make
the most of It.

THE RAMBLER bad a fine letter
from CAPTAIN D. B. SWIFT, of the
fist Engineers over in Ragleg. Louis-
iana at the present time. The Captain
was one of the swelleat men we ever
interviewed and was courteous to the
press In every respect. We appro-
late his consideration of our requests
to snap pictures and get a story—
especially, since his troops had gone
without sleep for hours. It was the
71sk Engineers we wrote our editorial
about recently which drew so much
warm comment from readers.
THE PANOLA WATCHMAN has
Stocked a wide range of paper for
the benefit of the high school and
elementary school students. We have
white, blue, green, yellow, red, orange
ami black cardboards in all weights.
We have a fine line of bonded type-
writer papers, and the sheapest iway
to bay paper is by the ream. A ream
contains 2,000 sheets and is better
than a years supply. The price Is so
low you'll take It in a minute. We
also have stocked press board, hriatol
beard, placard board, coupon board,
sailroad board, and all sieaa and
typas of typewriter ribbons.
