Into the deliberations have been
inserted the Texas’ preferences
including a zoning plan that
would permit an early Opening fori
the extreme northern part of the
state and a later opening for the
bulk of the state, including the
semi-tropical gulf coast area.
Jr The executive secretary said
sentiment during the preliminary
discussions seemed to favor regu-
lations similar to 1953 with a six-
ty-day season.
One suggestion was that the
season be extended to 75 days and
the bpg limit cut from five ducks
per day and ten in possession to

The executive secretary said in-
dications are that Texas will have
no less than the 60-day season al-
lowed last fall and added that
there might be some liberalizing
changes.
“The fish and wildlife service
now has been formally adviged of
nesting reportl, waterfowl popu-
lations and watarfowl movements
as they affect the fall harvest”
he said. “It has been informed by
the Flyway Councils through the
National Council.
“Now the service begins blend-
ing the interest of the hunters,
who want to harvest a fair sfepre
of the waterfowl, into the findings
of the conservationists who are
primarily interested in setting a
safe harvest quota." |
