Nacogdoches and Shelby County Chamber
of Commerce donate tickets
Timpson, Texas— Timpson Chamber of Commerce President, Paul Smith, met
with Vernett Richardson, Go Center Director for Timpson High School, to donate
tickets to the “Cram the Coliseum” event at the William R. Johnson Coliseum in
Nacogdoches, on Thursday, March 2 to see the Lady Jacks at 5:30 p.m. and/or the
Jacks at 8 p.m. This is the fourth year Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce has
reached out to the Timpson Chamber of Commerce extending tickets to the event for
any school students, faculty, churches or other groups of those descriptions. Smith
stated, “We are very glad to work so well with our surrounding chambers, and proud
to be able to extend these tickets to our school students. It’s a good way to get our
kids, and their families, to enjoy some good, wholesome fun.”
Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce stated this event started eight years ago
when Stephen F. Austin University wanted to fill the stands. Now, it has become
tradition that SFA, with help of the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce, picks one
game night where the Lumber Jacks and Lady Jacks both have a game and gives
free tickets to the community. Timpson still has free tickets available to anyone at
the Timpson High School Go Center; see Vernett Richardson. And Nacogdoches still
has free tickets available to anyone at the Chamber of Commerce office. The tickets
are free, but you will need tickets to attend the game.

18-wheeler accident shuts down
all 4 lanes on US Hwy 59
Timpson Volunteer Ambulance Service Reporting
February 24, 2017 TVAS and TVFD were dispatched just north of Timpson to
find an eighteen wheeler box truck blocking all four lanes of traffic. Driver Dar-
ryl Davison of Cicciro, Illinois stated that an animal darted out in front of him.
He swerved to miss the animal hitting the north bound ditch. Correcting the truck,
it veered sharply to the left and came to rest against a large cedar tree. Mr. Da-
vis was uninjured and grateful that the truck did not roll over. The roadway was
blocked for a couple of hours before being cleared. Thank God no one was injured
in the accident.
