Police Report
Mineola police reports for the past week included:
Dec. 29 - At 11:11 a.m. Jennifer Nicole James, 30,
Quitman was arrested at her residence by police for
Mineola warrants in reference to a reckless driv-
er called received Dec. 21. James was stopped at
Loop 564 and Highway 37 when she almost hit an
18-wheeler before an officer stopped her. Police said
while stopped she attempted to eat several Xanax
and was taken to the hospital. James was arrested
for driving while intoxicated third or more, posses-
sion of controlled substance under 28 grams (Xanax)
and tampering with physical evidence.
A report of animal cruelty was reported when six

dogs were located on the back of property at South
Johnson and Belcher Street. One dog was deceased
and the five others in bad condition were transported
to the vet clinic for proper care. The animals were
found with no evidence of food or water and one
without shelter, tethered on a chain and deceased.
This is under investigation and charges will be filed
one the person(s) responsible. Police said the animal
control officer was already investigating two horses
on the property that were not being fed properly and
had lost a lot of weight but was unaware of the dogs
at the time.
Officers were called to Panda Buffet on an argu-
ment over a paycheck between the owner and an em-
ployee.
Dec. 28 - A man was visiting on Bowdoin Street
and someone stole some of his medication while he
was there.
A man on South Johnson Street reported a small
empty safe in his yard that washed up with the rain
water.
CVS personnel reported a man and woman left the
store without paying for $29 worth of bottles of bath
soap. Investigators are reviewing this case.
At 10:24 p.m. Kenneth David Denton, 26, Mineola
was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia
and possession of a controlled substance (metham-
phetamine). An officer stopped Denton walking on
the wrong side of the road on Pegues and contraband
was found.
Dec. 27 - A woman reported her purse was stolen
from the self-check-out lane in Walmart. She said she
left her purse there and went back to find it miss-
ing. Surveillance video was reviewed and a report
was made.
Dec. 26 - At 11:53 p.m. Jason Hood, 37, Quitman
was arrested for public intoxication after police re-
ceived a call about a man passed out in the running
vehicle at Gateway Lanes.
Dec. 25 - At 10:52 a.m. Richard Wayne Burns Jr., 64,
Mineola was arrested on Johnson Street for violating
a protection order. Burns was arrested in the early
morning hours on Dec. 20 for assaulting a girlfriend
and a judge ordered an emergency protective order.

and drove her home. Officers talked with both par-
ties and they were separated.
At 10:19 p.m. Myranda Ruby Youngblood, 37, Quit-
man was arrested for a parole violation warrant. Po-
lice received a call about a reckless driver coming
into the city from West Highway 80. Youngblood
had an active warrant from Tarrant County.
Dec. 24 - At 4:33 a.m. a man reported a woman
was sexually assaulted in the parking lot of Walmart.
Officers talked with the woman who said only com-
ments were made and no assault occurred.
A wallet was found at the intersection of North-
east Loop 564 and North Pacific Street. The wallet
belonged to a Mississippi man and the department is
trying to contact the owner.
A man on Wigley Street reported an unknown man
calling and Facetiming threats toward him. Officers
called the unknown man and identified him. It was a
misunderstanding in reference to a stolen cell phone.
A man reported his passenger side mirror was bust-
ed while at Walmart. An officer reviewed the video
and found that the damage didn't occur at Walmart.
Dec. 23 - Officers were called to McDonalds in ref-
erence to a welfare concern of an unsecured child in
a vehicle. Officers talked with the driver who called
someone to bring a car seat to the location.
Brookshire's reported a forged check.
Lauren Bryanne O'Neal, 25, Winona was arrested
and transported to Mineola from Smith County for
a local possession of a drug paraphernalia warrant.
Sheriffs Report
The Wood County Sheriff's Department reports for
the past week included:
Dec. 29 - Deputies took Houston Oscar Tibbs, 26,
Yantis, into custody after drug paraphernalia was
found. The deputies responded to a call from his
mother to an address on Private Road 5918 who re-
ported he was threatening on social media to burn a
local business down with fireworks.
A man reported his Colt 1911 .45 pistol was missing
from his home on Farm-to-Market 852. He reported he
didn't know the gun was missing until he reached for
it earlier this month after his dogs started barking. The
gun is valued at $1,150.
Dec. 27 - A woman reported that a horse trailer was
stolen from her property on County Road 2370 in the
Alba area. She had last seen it on Dec. 25 at about 8
a.m. It was described as a white 2007 two-horse S&H
trailer valued at $4,000.
Dec. 26 - Information about a structure fire on PR
7533 in the Hawkins area has been turned over to the
county fire marshal. A neighbor called to report smoke
coming from the house but by the time the deputy and
the fire department arrived the structure had burned
to the ground. The deputy contacted the owner who
was not living in the house and who had been trying
to sell it.
Dec. 25 -An unauthorized use of a dump truck was
reported as the truck was discovered stuck in a ditch.
The owner of the truck was at that location and said
he had left the truck at a work site on FM 288. It is
believed the truck was left in the ditch sometime after
midnight but before 6 a.m. Some evidence was found
at the scene. The truck was released to its owner.
Dec. 24 - A man on CR1987 reported his RV had been
broken into. Several items were missing from inside as
well as from the outside storage compartments. Those
included fishing equipment, a cooler, lawn chairs, TVs
and some household items valued at $1,350.
Residents on CR 4918 called the sheriff's office due
to a neighbor showing up at their Christmas party
waving a knife and challenging people. The man had
gone back to his house and the deputies attempted to
question him about the incident. They reported the
man was uncooperative and became increasingly ag-
gressive. They arrested Jesse Jay Barroso on a charge
of resisting arrest.
