Three Mineola fishing teams head to regional finals
The top three Mine-
ola Fishing Teams from
the tournament stand-
ings for this year's Texas
High School Bass Asso-
ciation will advance to
the regional final tour-
nament at Lake Tyler in
May.
The top three teams
will advance to the re-
gional final tournament
May 15, 16, and 17. The
top three were: Dalton
Robles and Matt Smith,
Captain R.L. Lewis
(ninth place in the divi-
sion with 1258 points,
weighing fish at every
tournament; Jake and
Josh Lee, Captains Ladd
Thompson and Tim
Tyndell (83rd place in
the division with 831.5
points and - Bailey
Mischnick and Tanner
Clower, Captain Kevin
Stanley (88th place in
the division, 800.5 total
points).
The regional final will
take place at Lake Tyler
in a tournament will be
headquartered at Lake
Tyler Marina and Resort
on Concession Road in
Whitehouse. Spectators
are welcome (bring a
lawn chair) and should
be there by 2:30 p.m. on
Saturday and Sunday
to watch the weigh-
ins. Thousands of dol-
lars in scholarships will
be awarded, as well as
Team of the Year and
Angler of the Year for
both East and West divi-
sions.
Fourth place went
to Sara Wedding and
Ashley Davenport,
Captain Jeff Wedding;
fifth to DJ Hartley and
Tracy Murphy, Captain
Chris Hartley and sixth
to Landon Maclin and
Casey Gilbreath, Cap-
tain Tommie Spencer.
There were 202 teams
(over 400 students) who
fished qualifying tour-

Boys win title
at Region 2-3A
track meet
The Mineola boys won the team
championship at the regional track
meet held Friday and Saturday in
Whitehouse. The top two finishers
will advance to the State Track Meet
in Austin Saturday, May 16.
Brent Wells won the 110 and 300
meter hurdles. The mile relay team
of Dalton Harris, Preston Williams,
Kartney Hampton and Wells also
took home first place.
Lincoln Fischer finished sixth in the
triple jump. Reagan Fischer finished
third in the pole vault while Camer-
on Hays was close behind in fourth.
Micayla Stanley placed second in
the 100 hurdles to punch her ticket to
the state meet.
