Franklin released; affidavits
shed more light on charges
leged to have committed,
according to arrest war-
rant affidavits obtained
under the Open Records
Act.
Franklin, the former
Mineola Chamber of
Commerce secretary,
spent three days in the
Wood County Jail last
week before bond was
significantly reduced in
district court.
Franklin turned her-
self in last Monday at
the Wood County Jail on
charges of third degree
felony credit card abuse of
the elderly, as well as forg-
ery and theft over $20,000
under $100,000. The jus-
tice of the peace who
signed the arrest warrant
affidavits, Wes Criddle,
assessed the bonds at
$180,000. That was $10,000
on each credit card abuse
case and $30,000 between
the other two charges.

MHS musicians named to
All-Region, All-State bands
Mineola High School band Member Ashley Daven-
port auditioned against the best players in the region
to earn her chair in the All-State Band on Jan. 11. This
prestigious honor is the highest that a band student
can achieve while in high school and Davenport has
done it twice.
Last year as a fresh-
man at Mineola, Daven-
port was the first student
from MHS to earn the
honor since 2002. The
band directors are very
proud of Ashley and her
accomplishments. "She
is among the six best
players on her instru-
ment in the state and that
is incredible. Ashley is
also a strong academic
student at Mineola and
holds a leadership posi-
tion in the band. She is
truly a talented student,"
Mineola Band Direc-
tor Chris Brannan said.
Davenport will attend
the All State Band Clinic
and Concert in San Anto-
nio Feb. 11-14, where she

New chamber manager now at the helm
By DORIS NEWMAN

Marianne Eubanks is in her
third week as the new manager
at the Mineola Chamber of Com-
merce. She brings with her a rich
background of business and com-
munity development.
She also has a degree in hospi-
tality, travel, and tourism that she
finished online with the Universi-
ty of Phoenix. Some people might
belittle the online degree, calling
it a "bought" degree, she said.
But she said they were the tough-
est courses she has taken. She is
from Richland, and had attended
Richland College. She's also com-
pleted numerous hours of train-
ing with various state and private
programs. She is a certified judge
for fairs, festivals and events in
Texas through the Agriculture
Extension Service, and took the
Texas Events Leadership Program
through the extension service.
Her education has included Eco-
nomic Development and Heritage
Tourism and Festivals and Event
Management by Johnson and
Associates and Leadership Lake
The fact that brown-eyed, brunette Mari-
anne Eubanks is ready with a smile and
a laugh makes her easy to talk to. Many
people have stopped in to meet and visit
with her, and that includes Everett Scott,
shown here, representing the Mineola
League of the Arts.

and is a member of the Interna-
tional Ecotourism Society.
Chamber President Jason Ray
said, "We are very lucky to have
Marianne. She has extensive ex-
perience in related fields and with
Keep Greenville Beautiful. She
has already made an impact by
reaching out to the community
and chamber members." Ray said
the chamber is looking forward to
having continuity with her as well
as benefitting from her "new and
exciting ideas."
Ray noted that a full background
check was performed on all of the
top three finalists for the job.
