ower east of Mineola gets upgrade
The telecommunications tower on
the property at the intersection of
Farm-to-Market 49 and Loop 564
east of Mineola underwent some im-
provements last week.
A crew with IWS Integrated Wire-
less Solutions was installing a 4G
upgrade to the AT&T tower to im-
prove service for cellphone and in-
ternet users. Workers were install-
ing equipment to the 300 foot tall
tower using a crane that stretched
approximately 350 feet.
The work was expected to take
about a week and upon completion
the improvements should be on air
soon after. The improvement is ex-
pected to service the Mineola area.
ouncil talks preparation for development
The Mineola City Council discussed
closing an alley behind the Tobacco
Station and Yes Buffett to allow a CVS
to move to the property in Thursday's
city council workshop.
No action is taken in workshops but
City Fire Marshal David Madsen said
builders are waiting to purchase the
properties to see if the alley could be
closed. The builder would also buy
"the old sewing factory" as Madsen
put it.
Economic Development Director
Mercy Rushing said, "This will be an
anchor store." It would be about 10,000
square feet and the building would set
on the Yes Buffet parking lot.
One of the council members asked if
the current location on North Pacific
Street would be closed and she said
that it would.
The council was scheduled to vote
on the matter Monday during their
regular council meeting, after Monitor
press time.
During Thursday's workshop the
council also tabled discussion on re-
visions to their employee handbook
dealing with workers compensation
due to the length of the meeting. The
matter will be discussed in the follow-
ing month's workshop.
