Law enforcement agencies join forces for warrant round-up
By Brad Blakemore
Publisher
If you or anyone you know is buying or dealing drugs in Van
Zandt County, you may want to consider one of two options:
Quit or move to another county.
Last week Van Zandt County Sheriff Lindsey Ray invited me
to join him and 25 other Van Zandt County law enforcement
officers on a felony warrant round up. I’ve been on a number of
ride-alongs in my career and I figured this one would be pretty
exciting given the number of warrants to be served and coop-
eration from every law enforcement agency in Van Zandt
County.
Leading up to the round up there were a series of covert un-
dercover drug purchases, including purchases within several
municipalities - all with knowledge and cooperation from local
police departments. These drug purchases were prepared and
taken before a special grand jury, which issued sealed indict-
ment felony, warrants.
Sounds simple right? Not really.
