last summer while traveling across
Europe to find that, with the ex-

birds of all varieties are almost ex-

due to the lack of Insects, because
you see no flits, mosquitoes, or
the usual pests that plague Ameri

It seems odd. and yet when one
considers all the angles, nature
truly provides a balance in Ha crea-
tures. and when man, for some
reason, destroys any augment of
this balance, all the others suffer.
Our local garden cluha - The
Good Earth Garden Club and Car
thage Garden Club - have worked
ao faithfully to conserve the beau
lies of our world. We are grateful
to them for their efforts and would
only hope that more of our peo-
ple would join their ranks in this
project. Others may think that
thi* to a futile effort, but even a
few spots made beautiful provide
great joy to numerous passers
by. These women have not only
made their gardens beauttful-they
have provided, in many instances,
the sanctuary for the birds which
we mentioned before, because
they are a part of God’s great out
of-doors.
The Men a Camellia Club, which
prospered for a while, has ceased
to exist and we mourn its passing
Many became discouraged because
of the severe winters which, for
the past few years, have played
havoc with the plants outside tile
houaes. Personally, we have had
very few good blooms for more
than three years due to the usual-
ly cold temperatures we have been
experiencing. Perhaps, If all of
our people tried, we could revive
this finP organisation and once
again encourage Panola County re-
sidents to have the shows again.
Whether you belong to an organi-
sation which Is specifically dedi-
cated to the promotion of beautiful
gardens or not, we hope that each
person will feel hia responsibility
to improve the appearance of his
property amt will plant shrubs,
flower* and trees More specifielal-
ly, we hope that he will keep his
premises clean and neat for noth-
ing gives as good impression of
pride as does well-kept property.
By the same token, the untidy pre
mises gives the Impression that
the occupant ia careless and slov-
enly.
Now is the time to get seeds
and bulbs Into the ground. Encour-
age your neighbors to plant every
available inch with something
which blooms or Is green and love-
ly. It will certainly make you feel
better to see something blooming.

Why have more than a million women chosen the one
dryer with Twin Air Streams'' The answer is simply
better drying! The air stream in any dryer has two diff-
erent jobs to do — cradle clothes while they dry, and
carry away used, moist air. A single air stream can’t be
just right for both jobs — it’s either too harsh or too
slow Only Hamilton gives you two separate air streams
— a Cradling-Current for gentleness a Carrier-Current
for drying speed.
