Slates Member Drive
A membership drive in under-
way for the Red River County
Farm Bureau with a kick-off rally
being held Monday evening. Ed
McKay of Waco, legislative direc-
tor of Texas Farm Bureau, was the
principal speaker.
The drive started July 12 and
will continue through July 23, ac-
cording to Mrs. Billie Scott White-
man, membership chairman. Red
River County Farm Bureau now
has 517 members and has set this
year's goal for 100 more members.

of Clarksville on Civil Defer, ic. A
short business session was held.
Refreshments of sandwiches, pie
and tea were served.
Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Goode had
as Monday and Tuesday visitors,
their daughters, Mr. and Mrs. C
E. Thompson and Rusty of Lub-
bock, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Barnes
of Wake Village. During their
visit, they were present for a din
ner honoring Mrs. Goode’s birth-

Wedding Shower
Honors Newly Weds
A wedding shower honoring Mr.
and Mrs. Philip Murl Roach was
held Thursday at Bogata Commun-
ity House, from 7:30 to 8:30 p. m.
The refreshment table was laid
with a lace cloth over yellow with
an arrangement of white mums
and yellow marigolds. White cake
squares decorated ip yellow, and
yellow punch were served by Miss
Sandra McCall and Mrs. Hubert
Alford. The bride’s chosen colors
of yellow and white were carried
out.
Miss Kay White presided at the
register, where 88 names were re-
gistered. i
Hostesses were Mmes. Clyde
Roberts, Emmitt Moore, Johnny

Mr. and Mrs. Fate Smith spent
Friday in Hurst with their daugh-
ter, Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Scruggs
and family. The Scruggs had their
son, Mr. and Mrs. Dcrrell Gene
Scruggs and son from Medford,
Ore., as other guests. The Smiths
accompanied the family to Grape-
vine Lake for a fish fry Sunday.
METHODIST LADIES MEET j
After opening song, Mra. Archie j
Lowry offered prayer when the
WSCS met Monday at the church.
Mrs. W. C. Jeffery gave the de-
votional, using scripture from Mat-
thew 14:23, and lead an article, ”1
Will Set Aside Moments / to Be
Alone With My Lord.” Mrs. Low-
ry read the 46th Psalm and gave
an article, “The Guide,” followed
by a solo by Miss Jodie Craddock,
who sang, “Guide Me O My Great
Jehovah.”
Mrs. F. P. Brumley gave an ar-
ticle, “Keeping Our Souls” and
also presided over a business meet-
ing, where Mrs. Jeffery read a let-
ter concerning Bible study in the
Circle.
“If all in our church were just
like me, what kind of chureh
would our church be?” was the
spiritual life thought. Ten cards
were reported mailed to sick and
shut-ins and 22 visits made.
Mrs. Amy Craddock spent last
week in Dallas with Mr. and Mrs.
Rex Craddock and family, visited
her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Pow-
ell in Fort Worth, and saw the
Fourth of July fireworks at the
Cotton Bowl. Mr. and Mrs. Rex
Craddock and Amy Dell accompan-
ied her home Saturday, visiting in
the Craddock home and Mr. and
Mrs. Alvin Wood.
