Red River counties were: Lamar
36,156; Red River 23,200. A total

23,200 bales of cotton, compared
to 20,149 the previous year.
A white frost had been report-
ed and some ice in the area with
thermometers reading in the low
thirties.
Fire had damaged a truck be-
longing to Mack Mitchell short-
ly after he left it parked in his
yard. The fire was mostly in the
esb and destroyed a quantity of
stock medicine and a pair of
overalls.
Announcement had been made
of the marriage of Miss Virginia
Reece and Harvey Dye.
The News had carried a pic-
ture of Miss Juanita McCrury,
daughter of Mr ar,d Mrs. Tient
McCrury of McCrury, as she
kicked fer extra point in a foot-
ball game at PJC against Terrell
Prep school.
A. D. Clanston and Miss Burks
had married at New Hagansport.
J. L. (Lawrence) Bagiev had
died at Fulbright.
Milton Baughn, 67, former De-
port resident, had died.
The Nazis bad grabbed a U. S.
ship in mid-Atlantic with threats
of war broadening daily.
Zane Grey, noted writer and
