husband is in every way worthy of
her; meeting her last summer while
on a Texas visit from Handley,, W.

Picture Party.
'On Saturday afternoon Miss Mar-
guerite Jackson eom'plimented a num-
ber of friends. *jith a picture show
party, the occasion being ber four-
teenth birthday. The merry party
assembled at the Jackson home in Old
Town, and it'was a pretty picture, the
girls who have reached the brook of
life so beautifully described by Ten-
nyson, all in evening toilettes. Mrs.
A. E. Jackson chaperoned the party'

Mr. Forbes has returned to their
country home.
Mrs. J. W. Langley has returned to
Indianapolis, Ind., after a visit to her
sister, Mrs. D. M. Sheppard. j
The announcement of the engage-
ment and approaching marriage of
Miss Annie Byrd Ward to Mr. Horace
Morland Whaling, Jr., both of Hous-
ton, has been made. Miss Ward is
the daughter qf the late Bishop Seth
Ward and Mrs. Ward. The wedding
will be solemnized on March 14.—Gal-
