BRADY, Texas. May 6—Our
community was blessed with a
wonderful rain the past week, from
inches to .'t's inches. Every-
thing is ugifin beginning to get
green, and some of the liveoak
trees which were having diffifulty
in coming out are now beginning
to leaf out. A large number of
liveoak trees died from the lack
of moisture. Now that the rains
have started maybe they will con-
tinue the remainder of this year.
F. W. Hurd was pleasantly sur-
prised when relatives ai rived last
Sunday to help him celebrate his
irirthday. The day was spent in vis-
iting, with some domino playing
in the afternoon. Those enjoying
the bountiful noon lunch were Mr.
aud Mrs. Oscar Hurd, Mr. and
Mrs. W. T. Galaway and Jack, Jr.,
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Harvison, Mrs.
Alrata Spears, Mr. und Mrs. bred
Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Freeman
Hurd, Miss Marilyn Kilputrick and
George Hurd of San Angelo, Mi.
und Mrs. K. W. Hurd and Louise.
Mrs. Grata Spears had the mis-
fortune to break her tight thigh
Tuesday morning at her home in
Brady. After the rain Monday
vnght and Tuesday morning she
had gone outside to see if the
water had run under her house.
She stepped on a slick place and
fell. She crawled into her house
and telephoned her daughter, Mrs.
Fee Harvison. Mrs. Harvison
rushed her to the Brady Hospital
