LAMPASAS BADGERS
TO RECEIVE BANNER
The Lampasas high school football
Badger team will be given a flag which
the home economics girls, under the
supervision of their teacher, Miss Eli-
zabeth Tompkins, are making.
The color scheme of the flag is
white and blue. On the upper half
of the flag, which is white, has been
embroidered a Badger in blue. En-
circling the Badger are the words,
“District Champions.” On the blue
half of the flag the names of the
football boys are embroidered in white.
The names of Coach John Rowntree
and Captain Ray Fuller appear at the
top and beneath them are names of
the other players that have been em-
broidered on the flag as follows: Roy
Fuller, Brown Cornett, Delbert Yazell,
Neil Brown, Ben Campbell, Clifford
Smith, Luther Piper, Glynn Perkins,
Ernest Jones, Lawrence Williams, G.
W. Asher, J. V. Hammett, and Kyle
Smith. The names of the other mem-
bers of the team will also be em-
broidered on the flag.
The Gossard Corset line will be
shown at Higdon’s, Thursday, by Mrs.
Agnes Hawkins who will be glad to
serve you. (d)
OVER INCH AND HALF OF RAIN
The rainfall in Lampasas on Tues-
day afternoon and up to noon of Wed-
nesday amounted to over an inch and
a half. The rain early Wednesday
morning was heavy and all of the
nearby streams were on rises. Mail
cain-iers were unable to make their
usual rounds Wednesday morning on
account of swolen streams.
This rain will do a wonderful good
to the grain ci’op which is now in a
stage that it was needing rain in most
places. It will also be very beneficial
to the ranges and other crops. Rain
is reported to have fallen all over this
section and also in the western por-
tion of the State. San Angelo and
Abilene report good rains at this
particular time.
NO SUBSTITUE FOR BABY BEEF
OR WHIPPING CREAM
If you try to substitute baby beef
you are sure to be disappointed. If
you use sweet milk for whipping
cream you will also be disappointed.
We wish to congratulate Andrew-
Wright Grocery Co., for feeding their
customers on our baby beef this
month. Baby beef customers are easy
to get along with, always in a good
humor and are really proud they are
living, love their neighbors and are
willing to lend a helping hand. That’s
the kind of customers we have and
that’s why we are so proud of them.
Buy baby beef and be happy.—GIL-

tomers. (d)

Different. Pleasing. Highly enter-
taining.
A young iron worker (hero) saves
the lives of other workers at his own
risk. The heroine was listening to her
father describing the heroism of the
hero, whom he had invited to his house
for dinner that evening. The heroine
expected to see an ill-mannered, un-
couth man, and is surprised to learn
that he is—? ? ? Anyway .she. is at-
tracted by him and then and there
decides she will marry him. Her fa-
ther, knowing the character of the
hei'o, laughs at her; but she counters
him by stating that she will propose
to him herself. Does she do it ? What
happens then? You’ll be surprised.
The management especially recom-
mends this picture for both adults

W. E. WHITTEN RESIGNS AS
HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
J. P. McDowell the “yard man,” is
reported to be in a seinous condition,
from paralysis.
W. E. Whitten, who has been con-
nected with the Lampasas high school
for the past five years, has tendered
his resignation and accepted a posi-
tion as principal of the Brady high
school. Mr. Whitten was a teacher
in the school for two years, and for J
the past three years has served as
principal and athletic director. He
was re-elected to< the position in the
Lampasas school but thought it was
best to make this move as it. was an
advance in salary to him and he feels
that the Lampasas school has been
paying him all that the place here
warranted.
Mr. Whitten is a good teacher and
has the love and respect of the entire
student be^ly and the athletics have
been placed on a very high plane dur-
ing his leadership. He coached basket-
ball and looked after the finances of
the athletic department. The fact that
there is now a balance in the treasury
speaks well for his management along
that line.
Mr. and Mrs. Whitten have made
many friends in Lampasas who regret
to lose them as citizens but will wish
for them every success and congratu-
late our neighboring city upon secur-
ing them as citizens. They are both
workers in the church activities of the
city and Mrs. Whitten is a music
teacher and has had good success with
her classes here. Mr. Whitten has
taught in Lampasas county for the
past< eight years ancl during .that
length of time he and Mrs. Whitten
have made a large number of friends
and they will always feel very kindly
toward Lampasas and its people.
