PROPOSAL FOR THE FUTURE OF WASP WWII
We recommend that the WASP be governed by a Board of Trustees.
The Trustees will act as an advisory board to comply with the wishes of the
WASP. They will act as liaison in the production of the newsletter, roster,
and future reunions with the Coordinator of WASP Operations at Texas
Woman's University.
The Trustees will consist of three active members of the WASP, and
two ex-officio (non-voting) non-WASP. The WASP Trustees will be
elected by the members for a three-year term, and will be eligible to serve a
second term. The ex-officio non-WASP Trustees will be invited to serve for
a three-year term and, if they wish, for a second term. Trustees will not be
reimbursed for expenses.
Income from the WASP Endowment Fund will not be sufficient for TWU to
publish the newsletter and roster and arrange reunions. Therefore, a WASP
Organization Fund will be set up at TWU to finance these activities. All funds
remaining in the WASP Treasury will be placed in this fund, as well as annual
dues. The WASP Trustees will have oversight responsibility for this fund, and
TWU will provide the Trustees with a contract detailing how the fund can be used,
and quarterly financial reports.
Members will be required to pay dues in order to vote and to receive the
newsletter and roster. Life memberships will be honored. When the WASP
Organization Fund is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was created,
any remaining funds will be transferred into the WASP Endowment Fund. Income
from the WASP Endowment will continue to be used for the enhancement of the
WASP Collection and dissemination of the history and legacy of the WASP, and
eventually for the additional duty of maintaining the WASP database.
When the WASP Board of Directors determines that the time is
appropriate, the Board will:
* Vote to change the organization from a non-profit corporation to a less
formal type of organization.
* Send mail ballot to all members for approval
* Transfer funds to WASP Operating Fund at TWU, after paying bills.
* Send mail ballot to all members to elect Trustees.
* Fill out the required State and Federal forms.
