accented by paintings which inspired floral arrangements, were
displayed when Kermit Garden Club met Thursday morning in
|he home of Mrs. T. H. Stroud. Mrs. Stroud made the arrange-

nozzles' in one to regulate type
of watering of lawn desired. It
provides either a half-circle,
rectangle, three-quarter or full
spray. The turret,- of plastic,
has spokes attached to anchor
in turf or garden bed.
Inspiration was program topic
Thursday morning when mem-
bers of Kermit Garden Club
met in the home ofsMrs. T. H.
Stroud. The program dealt with
.art and table settings inspired
by paintings were exhibited.
Mrs. H. C. Murrie,president,
gave opening prayer. Mrs. John
Gammill introduced the pro-
gram when members inspected
three paintings and three har-
monizing table settings. \
Mrs. Stroud’s dining table
was set with Windsong Lenox,
Rose Point silver and Regent
platinum crystal. An arrange-
ment of roses, heliotrope and
daisies echoed the painting of
roses, lilacs, daisies and other
garden flowers which was done
by Mrs. Annis Meers.
Luncheon setting was taken
from a portrait of a small girl.
Tablecloth was the matching
pink of the girl’s dress and the
arrangement was of Peace
roses and pink daisies. Settings
were Geisha china, iridescent
crystal and Damask Rose sil-
ver.
A bar setting featured Coro-
nado Discovery china, New
Charm stainless and was de-
signed from another of Mrs.
Meers’ paintings, a mountain
view with lush purple and gold
coloring. Goldenrod, blue salvia
and a purple dahlia formed the
arrangement.
Mrs. Gammill gave a report
on The American Rose Society
and informed the group mem-
bership in the Society is obtain-
able by writing The American
Rose Society, 4048 Roselea

She announced All American
Roses for 1967 are Gay Prin-

Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Huey of
Fort Smith, Ark., are visiting

Mrs. H. J. Jeffery.
The Hueys and Mrs. Jeffery
are long-time friends. They ar-
rived Friday and are to leave
Monday. The two couples have
visited in Big Spring and plan
sight-seeing in the area over
the weekend.
Couple Attends
Meet in Midland
Mr. and Mrs. LaRoyce Dren-
nan, 925 East San Antonio, at-
tended a Wednesday night meet-
ing at Grace Lutheran Church
in Midland, where they heard
Rev. Arbie Patschke, mission-
ary to Japan, speak.
Rev. Patschke has served in
Japan for 10 years. He told the
group about experiences he has
had and showed slides of his
work and their chapel.
The missionary is a cousin
to Mrs. Drennan and is from
Thorndale. Rev. R. V. Hafemann
is pastor of the Midland church.
Society Plans
Fund-Raising
Project
Members of Altar Society of
St. Joseph Catholic Church met
at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Father
John Burkus, pastor, met with
the group and joined in discus-
sing various proposed ways to
raise funds. •
After selecting a project,
plans were made to begin work
immediately.
Announcement was made that
next meeting date will be Wed-
nesday, Oct. 12.

Mrs. Johnny Roman, vice-
president; Mrs/ Henry Valdez,

Wesleyan Service Guild of
First Methodist Church met
Tuesday night in the home of
Mrs. Earl McLemore. Mrs.
James Green was assistant
hostess.
Mrs. Kenneth Ford gave open-
ing prayer and Mrs. Bonnie An-
drews introduced the Guild Pro-
gram Book. Miss Camilla Hoi-
sage r presented the study on
Keepers of the Poor.
Benediction was by Mrs. Vio-
let Claxton.
Refreshments were served.

ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED — Mr. and Mrs. John C.
Edmiston of Jal, N. M., are announcing the engagement of
their daughter, Kathy, to Roland Caudill, son of Mr. and Mrs.
L. G. Caudill Sr., of Lovington. The couple will be married
Nov. 26 at the First Baptist Church in Lovington. The bride-
elect is a 1966 graduate of Jal High School and is presently
employed by th<? Lovington Leader. Caudill is a .1964 graduate
of Lovington High School and attended New Mexico State Uni-
versity. He is in the National Guard and is employed by Arrow
Gas Co.

Study Group
To Meet Monday
Adult Study Group of Com-
munity Church will meet for its
second . meeting Monday at 7
p.m. at the church.
The study, which began last
week, is organized to help adults
and the senior high age group
to become more familiar with
the Bible.
The study is titled The Mighty
Acts of God and will continue
for 12 months. Everyone inter-
ested is invited to attend.
Rev. J. Robert Hawkins, pas-
tor, is study leader.

time residents of Kermit now living in Imperial, are announc-
ing the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daugh-
ter, Rosa Lee Holder, to Charlie L. Harris, son of Mr. and
Mrs. J. B. Harris, Imperial. Wedding vows are to be read Oct.
14 in Imperial Methodist Church. Miss Holder is a girls’
physical education instructor and coach. Her fiance is a con-
tract pumper in Imperial.
