James Deshong home in Bedias Her
mother. Mrs Lucille Matthews
returned home with them alter
visiting another daughter in Houston.
Mrs. Dorothy Wooten of Huntsville
is here with her mother, Mrs. Elmer
Hall while Mr Hall underwent
surgery at Titus County Memorial
Hospital

County Memorial Hospital Sunday
afternoon.
The Rev. and Mrs. Gary House, Mi-
ami Mrs James Clark and Gary

sionary Association of. American
Meeting in Arlington tlnk week. The
men were acting messengers for the
First Baptist Church and the ladies
were messengers for the WMA
Cheerleaders for Talco Junior High
were picked by judges from out of the
community recently. They were
selected by the point system and the
four having the highest points were
the winners. Seventh grade winners
were Faye Whitney, daughter of Mi-
ami Mrs. Charles Ray Whitney and
Felecia Hobson, daughter of Mr and
Mrs C.H Hobson Eighth grade win
ners were Angelia Sargent, daughter
of Mr and Mrs. Rusty Jones and
Jerilyn Russell, daughter of Mr and
Mrs Jerry Russell.
Becky Horn and a friend from
Lufkin visited her grandmother, Mrs
Ruby Horn Friday.
The Rev. Barney Treece of Mineral
Springs, AR brought his daughter,
Teresa, to visit Mrs. Vivian
Westbrook, Brenda Carroll and other
friends here while he attended the
Baptist Missionary Association of
America meeting in Arlington this
week
Mrs H.M McLemore and family of
Plano visited Mr and Mrs. Charley
Roberts and Jay and Mr. and Mrs.
Randy Pitts Saturday and Sunday
Jay returned home with them for the
night. Mrs. Roberts went after him
Monday.
Mrs. Ruby Horn visited her sister
in-law, Mrs. Mary Bell Horn in
Johntown Monday.
Friends will be saddened to learn of
the death of former Talco resident,
Carl Stewart of Blanco lie leaves his
wife, Elbe; one son, Jimmy; one
daughter, Genevieve White and
several grandchildren.
Mrs. Ophelia Hood, Mrs. Willa Jo
Mills. Alice Ruth Tidwel. Mrs Mar
vie Sue Goates, Mrs. Jo Coil, Mrs.
Janice Jones with her mother, Mrs
Lillie Goss, Mrs Joyce Alexander and
Bro and Mrs. Gary House attended
the District WMA meeting at the
Bethel Baptist Church in Pittsburg
Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Swope of Mt.
Pleasant visited her mother, Mrs.
J F Swope Monday
Those going to Mt Pleasant to play
Putt-A-Golf Saturday night were Pat,
Wayne, Keith and Cassie Logan,
Donald, Janice, Brandi, Wendy and
Lacey Jones, Bro Gary, Lola,
Michael and Kevin House, Gary,
Cherrise, Misty and Jeff Clark, Mar
vie Sue and Kristi Goates, Jeff
Rackliff, Melissa Coil, Clifford Mar
tin, Katy Ross, Tonya Hawkins and
Randy and Mona Pitts.
Mrs. Nadine Caldwell and her
daughter and children, Mrs. Gayla
Dodd. Chad and Shana were in Austin
over the weekend to attend the
TECAT 'Fight For Right” rally.
About 2,000 concerned teachers from
over Texas attended. They had the
privilege of touring the capitol and
were present in the rotunda at the
presentation of Diorama. A huge
glassed in wood case which held a
replica of the Alamo under siege. The
Diorama was handcrafted by Junior
High School students from Gilbert,
Arizona. Six hundred students did 2' :■
years of research, 14,000 hours of
labor and $8,000 to build the replica.
A masterpiece the students and Texas
can be proud of.
Mrs. Caldwell, Gavla and children
also visited the LBJ Museum and at
Georgetown toured lhe Interspace
Cave They also enjoyed reading the
many original protest signs made by
the teachers.
Mrs. Fannie Lou Haley returned to
her home in Rule, OK Tuesday after
spending a few days with her sister,
Mrs. Mary Kelley.
Mrs. Lynn Carroll, Mrs. Dolly Car
roll and Brenda Carroll were in
Snyder during the weekend to visit
Mrs Carroll’s daughter, Mrs Ruby
Young and family and sister. Mrs.
Lillie Powell and family.
