Hawks tried to capitalize on each
Rebel turnover, they were held short.
The filial score stood at 12-6 as the
Rebels were unable to make a come-

Michael Allen, Jeff Brown, Charles
Cruise, Jerad Cutest and Alvin Sav-

Booster Club
plans Homecoming
The Rivereresi Athletic Booster
Club met September 10 in the River-
crest Homemaking Room with 15
members present.
October 4 was designated "Shake
Up The Warriors" night. This will be
the first home district game and the
Rebels play the Honey Grove War-
riors. Hveryone is encouraged to bring
a homemade "shaker" to the game.
Shakers can be made from coke cans,
plastic bottles or jugs, filled with dry
beans, gravel or anything that will
make some noise.
The Rivereresi Booster Club will
sponsor a bonfire on Monday, Sep-
tember 16 to start off Homecoming
Week festivities. Everyone is encour-
aged to attend the bonfire which will
begin at 8:00 p.m. at Rivereresi.
Red River Healthcare Center is
donating balloons and helium for the
Balloon Lift Off for Homecoming.
Balloons will be on sale for $1.00
prior to the Homecoming game with
all funds going into the Booster Club
fund to help pay for senior scholar-
ships.
A Spirit Night will be sponsored
on September 2b for the first junior
high district game. The junior high
players, coaches and cheerleaders will
he introduced to the audience prior to
the game.
Spirit lines will be held at the foot-
ball games this year. This is a great
way to show support for the players.
They work really hard and deserve
all the support they can get.
I veryone is encouraged to partici-
pate in these Homecoming activities.

Cross country team competes
The Rivereresi Cross Country team
traveled to Canton Saturday. Sept. 7
for the First Annual Martins Mill
Cross Country meet and put out good
effort to compete.
The Lady Rebels had three Junior
High seventh grade runners who ran
in the Junior Varsity division with
the high school girls. Charla Hines,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie
Hines of Bogata ran a super race anti
finished second with a good time of
15:14. She received a medal for her1
finish. Dusty Townes, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Benny Townes ol
Bogata also ran a time ol lb:12 to
finish nineth and also received a medal
for her effort. Royn Hollis, daughter
The Varsity I ,ady Rebels also com-
peted well There were some strong
teams at the meet and it was a good
first meet torus.Thegirlscompetcing
were;Candias Nickerson with a time
of 15:34. Katie Hare with a time of
15:58, Dcidra Brown with a time of
1 b:04. Sara Stanley with a time of
10:50, Kristi Hines with a time of
17:11. Joanie Swarfs with a time of
17:13 and Amber Spencer with a
timeol 18:3b.
The Rebel Varsity also put on a
good showing. Runners for the Kam
were. Joseph l.insey with a string
finish of nineth place and time of
18:05. Alvin Savage with a time of
20 13. Jeff Savage with a time of

Talco ran a time of 20:05 for twenty-
third place. Out Junior High runners
had a good meet.
The Rebels had two freshmen
voting men that ran in the IV dm
sion. Ryan Case finished in seventh
place with a time of 21:25 and re-
ceived a medal and Shawn Austin ran
a time of 23:1 I for a twelve Ih place
finish.

The Rivereresi Cross Country
teams will compete Saturday at North
Hopkins beginning with the Junior
High Division at 4:00 a m. Coach
Debbie Williams said,"We expect to
improve each week."
