Kemp said a 54-pound flat-
head catfish was captured and
released In Medina Lake by a
fisheries research trew con-
ducting a life history study of
thecatflsh.
So far, more than 100 flat-
heads have been tagged and re-
leased this year In Medina Lake
and Medina River.
The fish have averaged more
than 22 pounds each. Kemp
says valuable Information re-
garding rates of growth and
movements will be learned from
the tagged fish. "Hut we need
the cooperation of fishermen,”
he said. "If the tags are not
returned to Austin, by fisher-
men, then we will gain' no in-
formation from them.”
