Mt. Pleasant gearing up
for 32nd annual rodeo
The 32nd annual Texas Champi-
onship Rodeo will be held June 4-5-
6-7 at 8:(X) p.m. nightly.
The rodeo is co-sponsored by the
Mount Pleasant Rodeo Association,
Wing Rodeo Company and CKRA/
CRA
This year, a rodeo scholarship
through Northeast Texas Commu-
nity College has been originated with
the 1997 fall term. A portion ol the
proceeds from the rodeo are going to
the scholarship fund.
Wednesday night is Family Night
with all general admission tickets set
at $200.
A handicapable rodeo will be held
Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the arena and
Mexican Poker will be featured that
night during the rodeo.

Educational meeting set
for swine exhibitors
An educational meeting for youth
and parents considering or planning
to participate in the Red River County
l air market swine show will be held
Tuesday, May 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the
Clarks vile high school cafeteria, mr.
David Boone will be presenting a
program about the swine project in-
cluding seleeilon. management and
hsowmanship. Mr. Boone will be
serving as the judge at this year's
swine show.
All area youths and adults are cor-
dially invited to attend this informa-
tional meeting.

news, the vegetable variety tests he
conducts lor the Extension Service

Hoenig is a herb expert, knowledge-
able in both medicinal and culinary

The race will he held preceding the
Baris Art Fair.
Athlete may choose between three
fun events, including a I OK run, 5K
run and 2 mile walk. The routes for
lhe events are changed from last year.
The route for the 2 mile walk will be
on the walking track at Dragon Bark.
The IDK and the 5K Runs will hi
routed on the streets around Bari
JuniorCollegeund toward Evergreen
Cemetery.
Pre-registration for the event will
continue through this Friday, may 9
Through that date, registration fees
for children ages 10 and under are $8; #
children I I and over and adults arc
$10. After May 10, registration tees
for a|l ages arc $12.
Participants are divided hy age
category and hy gender for prizes in
each event. Trophies will he awarded
to the first three male and the first
three female overall winners for each
race.
Medallions will be awarded to the
lirst two male and first two female
finisher in each age category.
T-shirts will be given to all partici-
pants. Commemorative medallions^
will he given to all competitors ages
