Spring Hill
I will write a few items this
cloudy morning.
This community was visited by
one of the heaviest rains Thurs-
day that has fallen in some time.
The rain was accompanied by
heavy thunder and lightning and
wind. No damage was done,
only some of the land was wash
bad bridge.
Sure was glad to read in the
last issue of the News that the
law is be enforced on the over-
seers and road hands, as the
roads haven’t been wrorked in
two years and not much then.
Most nil the small bridges are
covered in mud and yet some of
the men will work against the
road question. How they can
do So I fail to understand.
There was not as many oats
sown as was intended to be on
account of the wet weather, but
but what was sown was sown
early and they are looking fine.
There will be a good crop of of
Millet seed sown.
Eld. Joiner filled his Mgular
appointment here the 3ra Sun-
day. He will preach from now
on, on the fourth Sunday and at
night on the fifth Sunday. So
there will preaching three Sun-
days in each month. \
Our school is progressing fine
and Prof. Gilbreath is doing
some good work. There is no
play house work in the school
hours. ~
Miss Lillian Killough, who is
teaching the Bantam school, vis-
ited the homefolks from Friday
until Monday and attended
church here Sunday night. She
says her school is getting along
nicely.
Mr. Richerson and sister of
Bantam and George Tyler of
Bantam and Miss Lucile Win-
chester,^ Spring Hill, took din-
ner with Misses May and Ester
McElrath Sunday night and at-
tended church here.
Wilton McElrath came in last
week from Fort Worth to visit
homefolks.
Miss Nannie Tadlock of Lan-
nius attended Sunday school
here Sunday afternoon.
Oscar Davis, wife and baby
of Dodd City, visited the for-
mer’s sister, Mrs. Sam Tadlock

The recent rains we have been
having for the past few days,
are fine on wheat and oats.
Was also needed to help bring
up the com that was planted.

ple are having to take certain
days in trying to get rid of
them. Pick Tarver killed 207
rats in his bam Thursday. J.

Those who have been on the

Georgia Nash, Pearl Keel, Bon-
nie Parker, May Roberts. Quite
a good deal of sickness now.
We fear that the Irish potato
crop will be rather short here
+his year. Jess McDonald states
that he dug into 96 hills of his
crop and only found one sound
potato. Several others also re-,
port theirs as being not sound
enough to come up. The ground
is so wet and the recent, cold
spell has caused them to rot.
