Meats Defeat San Marcos Eleven For Second Conference Victory
BRILLIANT PLAYS ENABLE
MORRISMEN TO CHECK
STRONG BOBCATS
The first fifteen minutes was tho
hardest!
San Marcos looked mighty mean
that first quarter vith tho wind to
their backs and thoir fighting: spirit
aroused. Thoy kept tho ball in "Wild-
cat territory practically tho entlro
first quarter and at ono tlmo had
the ball in the shadow of (ho purple
and whito covered uprights. But
Ewing's foot was too heavy for thorn
and ho put the ball out of danger.
Tho quarter ended with tho ball on
our twenty yard "line.
After a determined push in the
second quarter Stove took tho ball
on their twjyo yard-.llne and clouted
them for three "yards. Again taking
tho ball hogalloped tho remaining
dlstanco for a touch-down. Smith
kicked goal. Scoro 7-0.
Then in the third quarter came the
supremo moment the big thrill. Keys
took a punt on A. 0. C.'s 40 yard line
had well-nigh perfect interference for
thirty yards and outran tho field
tho other thirty for the second touch-
down of the game. In tho try for
point Stevens was to kick but
Keyes vfumblcd tho ball and Stevens
scooped 'cr up and went the fifteen
yards for point before San Marcos
caught on. Score 14-0. Hendrix
kicked off to their 37 yard line.
Quarter ended.
Lost-Quarter la Hair Raiser
The last quarter kept everyone
gasping for breath and 'up on their
toes. After about three minutes of
play Kcycs heaved ono to Pippin and
put tho ball on San Marcos' 2 yard
line. But that lino of tho Bobcat's
stayed. put like a brick wall and tho
ball was not advanced an inch. So
on the fourth Steve again did the
unexpected and ran forty yards
around thoir right end to make tho
two yards necessary for a touchdown.
He failed to kick goal. Score 20-0.
Pippin had just taken one of their
pisses on the fifty yard line when
tho gun boomed.
Jji Punting played tho stellar rolo in
?lie' entire game. San Marcos tried
moftr-thwx. few passes but Austin
College had loft a deep impression
on tho Wildcats and only three of
thmi:we"rccom'pfletcd.'-a3 ' '"

winding streets of Abilene and woro
finally left at Lytlo Lake. Here a
stroll by tho water's edge was en-

ness for several minutes the pledges
camo back to town and with Miss
Cozart went to tho Queen theater
where they saw Rod' La Roque in
"Captain Swagger." After tho show
the girls proceeded to Harvey Hays
No. 1 where clever place cards
marked covers laid for cloven mem-
