Feisty little ex-jockey J. Eddy
Milton current enfant terrible of
ACC's dessicated English depart-
ment announced this week that
he has secured Henry Miller as a
speaker at next week's lectureship
series.
"Hank will speak on recent tend-
encies in literature and other
things" gasped the poxy peda-
gogue. Readers will immediately recog-
nize Milton as the precocious pun-
dit who last semester astounded
the chairman of his department
crochety old Cassius Culp by pass-
ing a student.
A Possible Trend. "This could be-
come a trend" gnashed the gnarled
old gnostic publicly charging the
irate instructor "not to let it hap-
pen again."
Secretly sulking the malevolent
Milton engineered a coup which
nearly succeeded in ousting the
capable Culp from his chairman-
ship. Leading a ragged group of des-
perate volunteers from ACC's lit-
erary Maffia ' the Pickwickian
Club Milton charged to the second
floor of ACC's Citizenship Build-
ing before being repulsed by the
courageous Culp and a handful of
valiant vassals from the English
faculty
Desperate for teachers Culp al-.
lowed the mortified Milton to re-
main in the department for an-
other semester. Turning on his
heel Culp dismissed the seditious
savant from his presence with a
curt "Go and sin no more" and
returned tov his barricaded office.
Seeking Reconciliation. Milton
has since sought to ingratiate him-
self with the hulking Culp by
bringing great literary names to
the ACC campus.
"Henry Miller is a mere shadow
of greater things to come" Milton
says succintly. "The next year we
may get Mandy-Rice Dayies and
the year after thatj who knows.
We might even get Raymond Ful-lerton."
