of ACU is that the Lord owns it and
everyone is engaged in a common en-
terprise which gives them unique op-
portunities to serve the Lord. This en-
terprise of Christian education involves
the stimulation for spiritual as well as
academic and professional development
she said.
She emphasized that the faculty has a
moral obligation to maintain a superior
professional attitude to teach more ef-
fectively. "Any action or lack of action on the
part of the board or administration which
does not strengthen the academic or
spiritual atmosphere of the university is to
be deplored" she said.
Green views the senate as a "forum for
faculty concern" to help make the faculty
member's work more productive while
they strive for an "uncommon com-
milment"to the students.

Trustees vote on name changes .
The title of Student Personnel Services
has been shortened to Student Services
-said Vice President Garvin Beauchamp.
The Board of Trustees voted to change the
name at a meeting Sept. 1.
Beauchamp said the title is more ac-
curate in terms of what goes on in' the
division and added that most schools are
changing similar titles to Student Affairs
or Student Services.
The Judicial Board which serves as the
student appeals committee also had its
name changed to Review Board. The
membership was reduced from 15 students
and 15 faculty members to 12 students and
eight faculty members.
Beauchamp said the name was changed
to rid the board of its connotation as a trial
The Review Board's purpose is to hear
appeals from students who disagree with
disciplinary action taken against them by
one of the deans.A student may request
that a Review Board hear his case but no
one is called before the board against his'
will.
The faculty members of the Review
Board are Beauchamp who serves as
chairman; Dr. John Bradford associate
professor of chemistry; Dr. Overton
Faubus professor of business; Edward
Kirk associate professor of education;
Wilma Marshall assistant professor of
English ; Roy Shake associate professor of

Historical marker to be erected
commemorating ACU founding
The Taylor County chapter of the Texas
State Historical Commission plans to erect
a historical marker during the 1980-81
school year to commemorate the founding
of ACU said Dr. John Robinson professor
of history.
Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity is
raising money for the marker by selling
popcorn and programs at the ACU home
football games. Estimated cost for the
marker is more than $600 said Davjd
Arnold president of the organization.
Robinson and Dr. Beatrice Speck head
of the history department are planning
the location for the marker. Both are
members of the historical commission.
Two suggested sites for the historical
marker are the corner of Judge Ely
Boulevard and E.N. 16th Street and the
corner of Campus Court and E.N. 16th
Steet.
Lawrence L. Smith treasurer for the
75th anniversary committee was
researching the plaque and preparing the
wording prior to his death Sept. 9.
"When we find his notes we'll continue
with the plans" said Robinson.
"Once the wording is finished and the
money is collected we'll send our
suggested wording to Austin" Robinson
said. The whole process of having the
marker placed will take up to six months
he added
The city of Abilene also plans to place
markers at McMurry College and Hardin-
Simmons University partially in con-
junction with the city's 100th anniversary
celebration next year said Speck.
