most effective weapon against
the Dogs. Capping a 69-yard
drive, Llano uuarterbark Mike
Rogers handed off to fullback
Charles Staedtler who then
passed 21 yards to Kirk
Hodge- in the end zone for
the Llano Tf>.
Rogers’ kick for the point was
blocked, but Llano was moving up.
With still a minute to go, the
.Jackets kept nossession hy suck-
ering the Bulldogs with nn on-
side kick and recovering on the
Prady 45. The drive was cut short
! seconds later, however, when
Brady’s Gilbert I.afuente inter-
cepted in T.lano pass, and the Dogs
retired for the half still ahead,
12-6.
Opening the third quarter, the
Jackets caught the Dogs asleep
again with an onside kick, and
the Dogs suddenly found them-
selves trailing in the game. On
the second play from scrimmage
I.lano’s Mike Rogers, as fast as
his advance j uhlicity said he was,
went 50 yards down the right
sidelines all the way. He then
turned around and kicked the goal
to put l.lann ahead, 1.3-12.
Rogers wan dangerous, hut
for some reason he earned
the hall only In er in the first
half. In the last half he gain-
ed 91 vardn including that
50-yard TD scamper,
The flogs went to work immed-
iately and put 6 more points on
the scorehnxrd in a 62-yard drive
Anderson earned over again, nlic-
in^ off the right side of the line
from the 5 hut the Jacket* trip-
ped him up on the extra point try,
making it Brady Id. Llano 13.

the play and the TD was c n-cl.

That ended th ■ s'-rioii* tbr -at .
until the final minute of play.
Brady's Paul Booher punte l deep
into Llano territory and Rogers
field d the ball and started run-
ning like a grease I pig. Acting
like he was going all the way, he
got lack to the 47 before Brady's
Jimmy Pradshaw brought him
down.
Sta ‘fitter’s passe* took the 1
Ja-kets to the Brady 2d with only j
.31 seconds remaining, and then
on the final play of the game
Rogers broke loose again, zig-zag-
ng all over the field. The Dogs
finally brought him under con-
trol on the Brady 12, and there
the clock ran out.
And the Dogs had won their
first game of 1962.
