The plan, which wax in-

There are national came- and

pay $290,004).
This year Hire and Houston

Texas A&M clashed nt College

might have incurred through
television detracting from their
games.
However, since 1954 there
has Keen an increase each year
in football attendance. Thus
the schools not only have not
lost anything, they have gained
some important money.

too. Perhaps it isn’t normal
progress hut it’s progress. As
long ns they aren’t losing any-
thing they should feel pretty
good. Colleges are supposed to
be non-profit operations any-
way.
In the ense of a special
telecast like Texas-Okla-
home this year, the partici-
pating school gets little
money. Texas reeeived
about $2,900 and split that
with the remainder of the
conference. Texas got
about $1504) and the other
conference members $2414)
each.

This was one nf those special
telecasts that can lie put on nt
the homes nf the participting
schools and at the neutral site
if It is played nt a neutral
site, provided the game- is a
sellout 49 hours before It is
played nnd there is no other
college game within a radius
of 124) miles.
It doesn’t pay the competing
schools much hut it does give
the local public a chance to
see the game if they they can’t
get into the park. Nobody is
losing nnything und the public

It seems the colleges have
done a good job of working out
of what could have been a ser-
