Mrs. Bryant was bom October 24,
1914 in Lamar County, a daughter of
JohnAustin and Mamie Gertrude
Draper Bryant. She was a member of
the First Baptist Church in Patton-
vUle..
Surviving are a daughter, Maiy
Ellen Ballard of Quitman; two half-
brothers, John Edward Bryant and
Wayne Bryant, both of Dallas; one
sister, Vinia Bryant of Pattonville;
three half-sisters, Mary Ann Tidwell
of Paris, Jean Jrodan of Paris and
Maurine Hillman of Yukon, OK; four
grandchildren; five great-grandchil-
dren anda niece, Edith Woodall of
Pattonville.
Bearers were Danny Gambill,
Mark Ellison, Raymond Hoover,
Robin Ballard, Barry Woodall and
Donald B. Merritt.

Dies April 6
R.K. (Red) Storey, 65, died Thurs-
day, April 6 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday,
April 8 at the First United Methodist
Church with the Rev. John Peel and
the Rev. Ray Starnes and the Rev.
Tom Brown officiating. Fry and
Gibbs Funeral Home made burial in
Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Storey was bom Oct. 6,1923
in Deport, a son of Pete and Ruth
Kelley Storey. He married Clara Mae
Reeder in Paris on April 21,1946.
He was pharmaceutical represen-
tative for Lederle Laboratories-
AmericanCyanamidCo. for 35 years.
He was a graduate of Deport schools,
Paris Junior College and received a
degree in chemistry from Baylor
University.
He was a member of the First
United Methodist Church, a member
of it sofficial board anda member of
the Couples Class, which he served
as president several times, and had
served as a church greeter. He was a
member of the XYZ of the church
and of the Methodist Men. He was a
member of the Rotary Club and was
honored as a Paul Harris Fellow in
1988.
He was a member of the Paris Golf
and Country Club anda former
member of the Men's Golf Associa-
tion. He was a member of the Paris
Elks Lodge, Paris Masonic Lodge
#27, AF&AM, Scottish Rite and
Shrine. He served as a volunteer
worker in the hospital auxiliary ami
was a member of the American Asso-
ciation of Retired Persons. He i«rb

Dies April 5
Lillie B. Allen, 84, wife of the late
Lloyd V. Allen of Paris, died Wed-
nesday, April 5 at St. Joseph's Hospi-
tal.
Services were Saturday, April 8 at
10 a.m. in Fry and Gibbs Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev. John
Peel and the Rev. Ray Starnes offici-
ating with burial in Evergreen Ceme-
tery.
Mrs. Allen was bom July 26,1904
in Deport, a daughter of Spencer A.
and Martha Hayes Barker. She at-
tended Deport schools and married
Mr. Allen Sept. 23.1927 in a public
wedding at the Red River Valley
Fair.he worked at S.H. Kress before
marriage and later for Paris Mattress
and Venetian Blind Factory, Marie's
Upholstery and Reep's Drapery Shop.
She was a member of the First
United Methodist Church and had
been a member of the New Era Sun-
day School class, which she had
served as vice-president. She was
chairman of bereavement dinners,
flower chairman and program chair-
man. She was a member of the Paris
Rcbekah Lodge #20 and was a past
noble grand and served a streasurer
for 20 years.
She was a member of the Three
Link Study Club, of which she was
past president and secretary. She also
served as secretary of the Odd Fellow
and Rcbckah Association.
Surviving are twodaughters, Mary
F. Howell of Paris and Mrs. Robert
(Evelyn) Whitney of Paris; one son,
Charles W. Allen of Plano; six grand-
children; and six great-grandchil-
dren. She was preceded in death by
her husband on January 23, 1986; a
brother, Charlie Barker; anda sister
Emma Hauswirth.

to the American Heart Association or
the First United Methodist Church.
Walter Allen
Dies April 1
Walter Allen, 81, of Carlsbad, NM,
a nativ eof Paris, died Saturday, April
1 at Landsun Health Service Center
in Carlsbad.
Funeral services were held Tues-
day, April 4 in Denton Funeral Home
chapel with burial in Carlsbad Ceme-
tery.
Mr. Allen was bom September 8,
1907 in Paris and was reared in
Deport. He maried Vera Pomroy on
January 8,'1927 in Minter.
They moved to Arizona in 1940
where he worked in the copper mines
until World War II. During the war,
he worked in the shipyards of Port-
land, Oregon. He moved to River-
side, CA where he worked for Food
Machinery Co. and moved to
Carlsbad in 1948. He retired form the
U.S. Mine in 1966. He was a member
of the Hilkrest Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife; one son,
Wayne J. Allen of Winkleman.AZ; a
daughter, Wanda L. McClary of
Sulphur Springs; four grandchildren
and one great-grandchild.
Clara B. Taylor
Dies April 6
Clara B. Taylor, 84, of Cunning-
ham died Thursday, April 6 at St.
Joseph's Hospital in Paris.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Satur-
day , April 8 at Life Tabernacle Church
in Cunningham with the Rev. Don
Whitt and the Rev. Chief Warden
officiating. Grant Funeral Home
made burial in Meadowbrook Ceme-
tery.
Mrs. Taylor was bom February 15,
1905 in the Shadowland community
of Lamar County, a daughter of
William Golden and Dora Threadgill
Hamby. She married George West
Taylor on August 7,1921. He died
May 10,1982. She was also preceded
in death by a brother and three sisters.
She was a member of the Cunning-
ham Methodist Church.
Surviving arc a daughter and son-
in-law, Billy Joe and Georgia Oats of
Cunningham; three sisters, Mrs. Earl
(Willie) Wilson and Mrs. Lessie
Stuart, both of Reno and Mrs. Gar-
land (Beulah) Ursuery of Y uma, AZ;
a grandson and granddaughter-in-law,
Billy Ray and Neva Jean Oats of
Cunningham; and two great-grand-
children, Brandon and Georjeana
Oats of Cunningham; and a host of
nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were James Norwood,
William Cooper, Leslie Taylor, Pete
McKnight, Larry Bell and Frankie
Norwood.
Ruby Bryant
Dies April 5
Ruby Bryant, 74, of Pattonville,
died Wednesday, April 5 at McCuis-
tion Medical Center in Paris.
Services were held Friday, April 7
at Grant Funeral Home Chapel with
the Rev. James Hensley officiating.
Burial was in Shady Grove Ceme-

mother, Ruth Storey of Deport; one
sister and brother-in-law, Georgianne
and Ernest Stinson of Deport; and his
mother-in-law, Elizabeth Reeder of
Paris.

Dies April 1
Bobby Vaughn Burks, 27, of Dal-
las, died Saturday, April 1.
He was a graduate of Deport High
School and attended Paris Junior
College.
Among the survivors are his fa-
dicr, Merl Burks of Paris; a sister,
Elizabeth Taylor of Paris; and his
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C.D.
Hosey of Irving, Clarence Cheatham
of Bogata and Mr. and Mrs. Claude
Burks of Deport.
Floyd Acree
Dies March 30
Floyd Acree of Longview died
March 30.
Services were held at noon Friday,
April 7 in the Rader Funeral Home
Chapel in Longview with Dr. Lancy
Johnson and the Rev. Earl Duggins
officiating. Burial was in Red Oak
Cemetery with Fry and Gibbs Fu-
neral Home in charge of arrange-
ments.
Mr. Acree was bom June 18,1921
in Louisiana, a son of Eugene and
Gertie Divers Acree. He married
Dorothy Baxley and was a carpenter.
Surviving are his wife, one daugh-
ter, Charlotte Jean Acree of Ekyu,
Nigeria; anda brother, Tommy Acree
of Houston.

Thanks to all those who sold tick-
ets, prepared food, donated bakery
goods, or had any part in making the
chili and stew supper fund raiser for
the new fire truck such a huge suc-
cess.
The fund raiser exceeded every-
one's expectations. Thanks also goes
to all the residents of the area who
supported the fund raiser by buying
tickets and giving donations. The
supper sponsored by the Ki wanis Club
of Deport and the American Legion
of Deport raised close to $5,000.00.

(Clara) Taylor. She was loved by all
who knew her and will be missed.

Arlis Womack of Houston. He mar-
ied Thelma Malone and they were

Fulbright Community Club Meets
The Fulbright Community Club
met at the center Monday night, April
10 with president. Beryl Miller, pre-
siding.
Nine members attended. Topics
discussed were new windows had
been bought and will be installed by
Hub Miller; a work day will be set up
to clean the center; a new hot water
heater is to be installed; a stew supper
to be held April 29.
Everyone is invited to attend these
meetings. Refreshments will be
served at the meeting in May.
