Christmas wish
for the Cookes
Dear Santa:
The clock just struck 1 1 p.m. Now that I have a quiet
moment I'll use this Macintosh to compose a collective
Cooke family letter. I guess it would be appropriate to
remind you of the ages of our children as I try to
remember all the things they would want you to know.
Jonathan almost 4 still likes things to be simple. He
wants a Robin (to go with his Batman) a walkie-talkie
and a Batman cape to replace the one that accidentally
got flushed down the toilet. That's all he's mentioned. I
of course want him to get lots of great books.
Emily who is 8 wants a pretty doll for her collection
and some Trolls. She also would enjoy some clothes for
her Kristen doll. I of course want her to get lots of
great books.
Jennifer who is 1 1 is really out of the toy stage. She
is more interested in big stuff. She's mentioned a Walk-
man a leather jacket earring's money and clothes.
Because she reads all the time she wants to get lots of
great books.
As far as we parents arc concerned Jim and I want to
be able to have some special relaxing family time; but
that's hard for you to deliver. He has mentioned some
new software he'd like to have land some type of new
cordless drill. He probably has elnough ties so don't go
to any trouble there. And for mc well I like surprises.
(But no small appliances please.)
I always could use a few new clothes (with appropri-
ate accessories of course.) I would like for all our stu-
dents to be back for the spring scjnester and bring a few
new friends with them. I would like our new football
coach to get all the great players Ihc's recruiting for the
new year's team. I would like to have a great new dean
to work with in this challenge called Student Services.
Most of all I'd like for all people to receive the
greatest gift of all the love of jsus Christ. But (hat's
not for you to deliver that's for all of us to share.
Hope you have a special holiday season with Mrs.
Claus and I promise this year's snack will be better

Give wisdom to
everyone Santa
Dear Santa:
For Christmas I would simply like knowledge and
lots of itl There seems to be a severe lack of it in this
world. I'm always hearing people call each other
"dummy" "stupid" or "idiot."
There is one drawback. Nobody likes a know-it-all
but I guess if I knew everything then I would know
how to be nice about it. It really would be helpful to
me if you could bring it early this year because I'm in
college now and I have semester final exams next
week. Heyl I could tutor all my friends and they could
all make good grades also.
That would be really hard though because if I knew
everything then I would understand everybody's prob-
lems and I would be friends with everyone. Instead of
haling people for how they acted I would know why
and I could help them to help themselves. I wouldn't
Tight with anyone. I continually would be joyful.
My understanding would motivate me. Hey Santa?
Don't give knowledge to me. Give it to everyone else.

Christmas is for
celebrating Jesus
Dear Santa:
My Christmas list and wishes have changed consider-
ably since I was a child because my life is no longer
centered around toys but people.
First of all I would like all of the poverty-stricken
people especially children to be given food and a way
out of their situation. I ask that you bring gifts of love
to the children who have never experienced pure love
or affection.
Please grant me gifts of compassion and Understand-
ing to share with the hurting and the broken-hearted.
Santa I would like the world to be free of wars
divorce poverty murder and anything that tears people
apart and distracts them from their focus on Jesus
Christ.
This Christmas I want families all over especially
my family to truly celebrate Jesus Christ instead of
being caught up in presents and traditions which are
fun but not what Christmas is all about. t;
If you cannot find it in your power to grant mc the
gifts above please at least grant mc this wish. I want to
go home to Houston for Christmas to be with my family
and old friends. Thanks!

Son hopes for
reconciliation
Dear Santa:
If I could have anything for Christmas it would be
that my father and I would get things straighten out
between us. Because the love I had for my father isk
gone but that love should last a lifetime. My father and
I do not get along. So if I could get anything for Christ-
mas it would be that the love that my father and I had
would be Die same as it used to be because I really care
about my father. But I am as stubborn as he is. I know
in the Bible that it says you should honor your father
and mother. .
Christmas is a time to settle your differences witn.
friends and family. So this Christmas I wish and pray'
that my father and I will get together and let our love
grow strong.
