MIDWAY HD.
CLUB MEETS
With Mrs. Bill Watson as
co hostess. Miss Vera Peterson
entertained the Midway Home
Demonstration Club at her
home Friday afternoon. The
program was brought first, by
Mr. Henry Slaton, of Texark
ana, with Safety Div. of
Highway Patrol, and Mr. Murl
Whitley, of Detroit, with Red
River County Highway Patrol,
Drivers Lie. Div.
Many very useful facts
were presented, etc. that there
are now 120,000,000 vehicles in
Texas, most fatal accidents
occur more in August, more on
Saturday, and the hour from 6
to 7 is the most dangerous time
to drive. The last Legislature
has made 52 changes in traffic
code, in that some people can't
read, and instead of signs which
have printed information, only
colors will be used, such as red
no; yellow — caution; and
jreen — go. More responsibil-
ity is placed on school bus driv
ers. Also, that drivers should
acquire current Drivers Hand
books, as so many changes have
been made. These books are
available for anyone requesting
one.
During the meeting, Mrs.
Paul Kerr presided, with Mrs.
Larkin Gooch leading the
singing of "God Bless America",
and "Home On the Range",
followed by the club prayer.
Roll call was answered by
eighteen members, with "Driv
in# Safely."
Several plan to attend the
Recreation workshop in Tyler
Tuesday. Plans are being made
for the club to tour Campbell
Soups, in Paris.
