New York, DeDc. 13.—Heni.v Ford wirelesses his peace ap-
peal to all the European rulers fiom the Oscar II. which is due
at Christiana tomorrow or Wednesday. A wireless copy of the
message, sent to the United States via the liner Nordham and
Cape Race, says in part:
“We come in this time of trouble not to add to your burdens,
but to help lift them, and out of love of country for which ev-
ery day tens of thousands of li\es are sacrificed. Your nation,
like the people of all the other belligerent countries, is fighting
for national existence and traditions. Such common idealH must
surely afford a basis upon which to establish magnanimous and
honorable peace. Has not war been tried enough by sixteen
months’ fighting? Is it not proven that war cannot solve the
problem, hut leads only to loss and misery?. We neutrals are
about to join in a conference which without delay will submit
to you and the other warring nations proposals as a basis for a
discussion simultaneously that will lead to a final settlement.
Therefore we earnestly entreat you and the rulers of other bel-
ligerent countries to declare an immediate truce. I.et the ar-
mies stand where they are, as in no other way can the war end,
except in mediation and discussion. Why, for the sake of hu-
manity, waste one more precious life?”
