Clarksville, was one of about
150 southwestern air condition-
ing dealers attending a meeting
here, at which It was reported
that central residential air
conditioning Installations In the
U. S. passed the million a
year mark for the first time In
1969.
Officials of Carrier Air Con-
ditioning CoR, which co-sjwn-
sored the meeting with Its area
distributors, said some 1,050,-
000 central air conditioning
systems for homes were sold
compared to 847,000 the prior
year. Total doliar volume of
central residential systems
sold during 1969, including In-
stallation cost, was estimated
at about $1.2 billion, as this
market continued to lead all
others In the air conditioning
Industry.
In addition, about 4,810,000
room air conditioners were sold
In the U. S., and inorinbah four
out of five were Installed In
homes.
The meeting was one of 12
entitled “Perspective ’70"
which Carrier Is conducting
around the country to acquaint
dealers with new products and
business developments within
the industry.
