Barnett said. The club invited
freshmen to the lake and to a
fall social. Barnclt said the
activities were more like rush-
ing Than pledging.
However Boglin said "In the
K fall semester you don't rush
freshmen." Boglin said the Tro-
jans engaged in activities with-
out his approval und without a
sponsor present.
"The context is multiple viola-
tions that occurred over the last
couplcyyears" Boglin said
addinf that Trojans has been
under close supervision since
the beginning of his term as

DT revival begins
y EUNICE LIM
STUDENT REPORTER
Delta Thcta an inactive
women's social club may
sec a revival on campus this
fall.
According to the 1990 edition
of the Prickly Pear Delia Thcta
changed its name to become Xi
Beta Chi and rcchartcrcd Nov.
1 1989. The club inducted one
new member in 1991 but
became inactive the following
year.
Since November a group of
freshman women have under-
taken plans to bring back the
tradition of DT.
This spring semester would be
a time of development and
preparation said Cynthia
Cooke dean of students. Cooke
said the club should sec new
pledges this fall.
'The fact is they need a core
group of girls who arc commit-
ted but with diversity among
the girls so that when it's time
to try to include new members
they will have a wider circle of
friends" she said.
Six women's social clubs arc
active on campus: Alpha Thcta
Chi Omega GATA Ko Jo Kai
Sigma Thcta Chi Tri Kappa
Gamma and Zcta Rho.
Amber McElyea junior social
work major from Abilene and
president of GATA said the
introduction of the seventh club
is a great idea.

"The whole reason for clubs is
to encourage camaraderie on
campus" said McElyea. "WiA
another girls' club there shoull
also be more girls pledging"
she said.
Jamie Garner senior food
nutrition and dietetics major
from Fort Worth and president
of the Inter-Social Club Coun-jf
cil. also said a new club is a
positive idea.
"I don't think it will be a
threat to any of the other clubs
already existing because!
they've been around for a long '
time and have built a reputa
tion" said Gamer.
Garner said the new club
would be a different group thajji
has a chance to form their own
club personality. "It's another
way for a group of girls to
express themselves and this
will encourage other people lo
pledge" she said. f .
Marisuc Thompson who was i

"We have over 1000 ex-mem

"There's at least 50 ex-Delta j

members here in Abilene have (
agreed to help." she said.

Zcta Rho was in danger of disbanding last
semester because of low membership but a
tall pledge class kept the club on campus.
