The First Christina church
began a protractud meeting at
the opening of their new church
Sunday. .Mr. Hugh MeLcllau,
pastor of the Central Christian
church ot* San Antonio, is con
ducting the services. Large
crowds attended all the Sunday
Services, and last night another
good crowd was present to liea)
message. .Mr. .McLellan pre-
sents the simple gospel story in
a most forceful way. lie has al-
ready, caused a great deal of fa-
vorable comment, and there have
been confessions at every service.
There were two baptisms and two
confessions last night.
The music is especially
and the sweet tones of the
organ seem to rootlie the
•mind and body and cause
heart to lonji *t#r the still
voiie that speaks into every hu-
man ear at some time in life.
The services begin at seven-
forty-fivc each evening and ev-
erybody is especially invited. The
reception accorded to those who
attend these services makes us
think of the real brotherhood of
man. —Contributed.

THE 8/PTIST REVIVAL
The interest in the mootings
being conducted at the Baptist
church is good unit many have
professed Pa it li in Christ. There
nave been thirty-four additions
to the church up to date. Mr.
Wright has earnestly presented
the truth to the people who have
attended these services and the
singing conducted by Mr. Rey-
nolds assisted by a large chorus
lias been excellent. His solos
are tender and full of gospel up-
peal.
The meetings will continue
through the week and we arc
looking for larger results before
.the meetings close. There will
he no morn meetings for the
business men in the stores this
week. If our people will take th
intercut this week they ought to
God, will give us a great victory
in this work. Bonham needs more
righteousness and to realize that
our greatest asset is men and wo-
men who love and honor the
Lord in their lives. Nit life! call

tin* heart and rules its actions
What our churches neud is to
have people who are member* to

The new HwitcliboHrd for which
the telephone company tuade
plan* and specifications lor in
December is uow being built in
Chicago and it is contemplated to
have it installed and in operation
us soon aa it can be received.
The switchboard will be golden
oak, and beautiful in appearance.
It will have an immediate ca-
i pacity for one thousand phones, i
with an ultimate capacity for two
thousand, five hundred. This
flexibility is provided in case
Bonham ever has that many
; phones. It will be equipped with
all the latest appliances cal-
i culated to give prompt, reliable
Bit! service and will be a decided i»i-
| provement over the present type
• >f switchboard, the change being
| from the transfer to the multiple
! type. Mr. Gorotn, who worked
lout the engineering details of
the new hoard, stated that it will
jhe the morft up-to-date piece of
equipment in the State. In dis-
cussing the changes, Mr. Goroui
said: “The preliminary work for
the installation of the new
switchboard is now in progress.
Outside of the rearrangement of
'the office it will necessitate a
change in the complexity and dis
tribution of the wires. During
these changes efforts will lie
made to prevent interruptions in
the service as far ad possible, al-
though electricians aud linemen
may have them in trouble at
times, unavoidably. This is lions
in preference to cutting out sec-
tions entirely until work under
way is completed. The telephone
operators are working under dis-
advantages while the electricians
are rearranging the wires and ca
hies, and owing to the transfering
and trunking of local calls, which
will afterwards he eliminated,
may cause the service to lie im-
peded at times. We will kindly
ask the subscribers to call by
number. At present nearly
seventy five per cent of our peo-
ple call hv name only. This im-
pedes the ork of operators aud
increases proportionately during
the busy hours of the day. Dallas
and many other towns will not
put up local connections unless
the telephone number is given.
However, we will not do this, hut
will kindly ask our people to call
by number in preference to the
name, which will considerably lei-
sen the work of the operators an I
enable them to give prompt ser-i
vice to all.”
