The victorious life is the over-
powered life overpowered by
iivo. Victory over sin and tempt
ation comes by yielding every fi-
ber of our being to the love of
our Christ. We then will be
'more than conqueror through
him that loved us.'
The direct result of the over-
mastered life is service. If your
lives are truly under the power
of the love of Christ we must
lose our lives in service.
Service is the expression of the
1 love of Christ working in us.
George Mathcson expresses it this
way: "Oh Love that will not let
me go I rest my weary soul in
thee. I give thee back the life I
owe That in thy ocean depths
I might richer fuller be."
What will vour life mean in
this new day? Will it be over-
mastered by the love of Christ or '
undermined by the love of self?

The fact that the newly marri-
ed couples here this year are so
numerous that we can't name
them constitutes little interest
to anyone but the couples them-
selves and for them it is too
late. Of course this fact might be
a source of encouragement to our
matrimonial minded students
most of whom seem to be con-
gested in Howard Payne.
As Jake Massey so aptly put it:
"Don't let your studies interefere
with your college education."
There are several loyal How-
ard Payne-ites who returned this
year bringing with them a
younger brother or sister. Among
them is Rockey Hitt (who inci-
dentally has proved himself to
be a real connoisseur of good
Wines) who brought his younger
brothel Parker with him. (Sor-
ry gals but it looks as though
this Hitt isn't quite as bashful as
Bill even though he does have
big blue eyes).
Horace Crowder brought his
sister Betty with him. (Atten-
tion fellow:-' we happen to know
that she s a good cook too.) Eva
Nell Turner and Kenneth Brown
both likewise brought back tit
school good looking members of
their families in the personages
of Mary and Bob. Robert McCon-
nell obviously wanted to keep the
red-headed population of How
ard Payne in the "good looks" 318 Brown St
group so he persuaded his little
sis Betty to accompany him back' mmmmi
day" to him every day. It seems
that some freshman girl is always
singing off key. If you are guil-
ty would you please quietly go
see Dr. Garrett so that "Oyster"
can be happy again.
Taylor Hall (and Howard Payne
Hall if all indications are cor-
rect) seems to be proceeding
quite nicely in its program of
solving the world's problems:
Within the walls of many a room
are gathered every night the
greatest minds of our universe to
debate and discuss the current
subjects of the day. These quiet
friendly fraternal meetings are
deep in their scope as is evidenc-1
ed by the subjects that are chos-1
en. Many a brain has been strain-
ed by these meetings.
The brethern of the dressing
room have a way of saying it:
"Well just whatever you think."
More people commit suicide
with a fork than a knife.
