Mrs. Louis Martin, who re-
sided on Route 4, Clarksville,
died In Red River County Hos-
pital November 25 at 11:96
p.m. Funeral services were
conducted Friday, November 7,
at 2 p.m. In First Baptist
Church with Rev. Don Means,
Interim pastor, officiating. In-
terment In Falrvlew cemetery
was In charge of Jolley’s Fu-
neral Home.
Nephews served as active
pallbearers.
Mrs. Martin, the former Opal
Barnett, was born In Red River
County April 11, 1914, daugh-
ter of John and Lillie Glddens
Barnett. She was married In
1933 to Louis Martin, who sur-
vives. She was a member of
Sherry Baptist Church.
Surviving other thpn her hus-
band are sons, John Robert
Martin, Annona; Douglas Mar-
tin, Clarksville; Jerry Lynn
Martin, Bogata; Jeffrey Glynn
Martin and Ellis Ray Martin,'
Clarksville; sister, Viola Bar-
nett, Clarksville; brother, Har*
vard Pearson Barnett, San An-
tonio ;* and five grand children.

Michaels Hospital, Texdtkana,
November 25 at 2 p.m.. Last
rites November 28 at 2 p.m.
were held In First Baptist

bert L. White, pastor, officiat-
ing. Clarksville Funeral Home
directed burial In Avery ceme-
tery.

Mr. Crowell was bom at Chil-
dress, Tex., May 23, 1912, and
had resided In Red River County
four years. On Jan. 25, 1968,
he married Betty Evans at Los
Vegas, Nev.
Survivors Include his wife,
Mrs. Dewitt B. Crowell,Avery;
step-sons, Raymond John, U.S.
Navy; Thomas John, U. S. Army,
and Christopher. John, Avery;
also aunts, Mrs. Mark Bums,
Lubbock; Mrs. Herman Robin-
son, Amhurst, Tex.
Mr. Carpenter
Sam Houston Carpenter, a re-
tired farmer of Detroit, died at
his home November 26 at 8:45
p.m. Burial In Detroit ceme-
tery, directed by Clarksville
Funeral Home, followed last
rites In the Llndeman Chapel
November 28 at 2 p.m. with
Alfred Butler and Bennie Cog-
burn officiating.
Pallbearers were John
Chumbley, Clifford Ritchie,
Billy Underwood, Murray Aub-
rey, Cecil Latimer, Robert
Pearce and Henry Lee Somer-
ville.
Mr. Carpenter was born In
Red River County and lived here
kll his life. He was the son of
Sam Houston and Orleon Glaz-
ner Carpenter. He was a mem-
ber of the Methodist Church.
Survivors Include sons, John
Carpenter, Detroit; Gerald
Carpenter, Arcadia, Texas, and
five grand children.

Mr. Nash was bom In Mount
Pleasant Dec. 24, 1895, and had
lived In Red River County most
of hls life. *■ He was married
to Nellld Sloan May 28, 1919,
at Texarkana, Ark. She sur-
vives.
Other survivors are a sister,
Mrs. Dattle Camden, Santa
Cruz, Calif., and a brother,
B. D. Nash, DeKalb.

Lamb of Paris, former Clarks-
ville resident, were conducted
Saturday afternoon In Spring
Lake Baptist Church by the
Rev. Clyde Boyd. Interment
was In Detroit cemetery.

Weese and Murlce Miller,
Paris; Porter Norwood and
Harvey Adams, Detroit; Dean
Kerr and Marcell Cross,
Clarksville. ,
Mrs. Lamb, the former Eula
Bertha Elem^ died In a Paris
hospital Friday. She w»s a
naUve of Delta County, but had
lived In Re& River County for
a number of years.

Rebels Hand
Tigers First
Season Loss
HI vercrest came from behind
to hand the Tigers their first
loss of the season 79-77 at Rlv-
ercrest gym Tuesday night.
Clarksville led 19-17 at the
end of the first quarter and had
lengthened the lead to 36-30 at
halftime. The Rebels scored
22 points In a big third quarter
to tie the score at 52 all and
put 27 more on the board In the
final period.
The Tigers hit 35 out of 96
from the floor and 7 of 16 free
throws.
Lawrence Norman was top
scorer of the game with 36
for the Rebels. Troy Brown
and Philip Smith had 14 each,
Roy Rogers 11 and Ricky Frank-
lin 4.
Jerry Nickerson led the Ti-
gers with 17, Billy Joe Cole-
man had 17, Bruce Seay 16,
Willie Coulter 13, Lewis Woot-
en 9, and Lawrence Norman
and Charles Pruitt 2.
Coleman pulled In 21 re-
bounds, Coulter 20 and Nicker-
son 11.
Rlvercrest also won the girls
game 65-30.
Debbie Brem was high for
Clarksville with 16. Rosie
Brown led the Rebelettes with
25, Frelda Whitten had 17 and
Jerri Gage 14.
The Clarksville boys A team
and both boys and girls A teams
from Rlvercrest are scheduled
to appear In the North Lamar
tournament this weekend.

Clarksville, November 28 at
8:30 a.m. Funeral services
were conducted November 29 In
Llndeman Chapel with Frank
Downes, minister of the church
of Christ, officiating. Clarks-
ville Funeral Home directed
burial In Manchester cemetery.
Pallbearers were Barney Al-
sobrook, Doug Alsobrook,
Wayne Alsobrook, Week Geer, -
Julian Harvey and Junior Nail-
ing.
Mr. Taylor was born.atMan-
chester September 30, 1895, the
son of Mr. and Mrs. George E.
Taylor. He had lived In the
county since 1951. He was a
member of the church of Christ.
Survivors are sons, Jack
Taylor, Mobil, Ala.; Charles
Taylor, Arlington; sister, Mrs.
C. D. Hart, with whom he made
hls home, and five grand chil-
dren and two great grand chil-
dren.
Eaffles Take Win
From Roxton
The Detroit Eagles took a
66- 51 victory over Roxton Mon-
day night after losing to Pralr-
leland November 24. Final
score In the Pralrleland match
was 74-54.
High scorers for Detroit
against Pralrleland were Ste-
phen Phillips with 18 and Roy
Mooneyham 15. Reuben Gray
was high for the Patrolts with
19.
Tommy Steens and Roy Moon-
eyham had 15 each and Stephen
Phillips scored 13 In the Rox-
ton win. Burks was high for
the losers with 19.
The B team won both their
matched downing Pralrleland
67- 59 and Roxton 55-40.
In the Pralrleland game Clar-
ence Gray was top scorer with
20 followed by Billy Shelby 19
and Clifford Bailey 12. Mayes
had 17 for the losers.
Clifford Davis led against
Roxton with 14 and Emmltt
Hearn had 10. Walsworth was
high for Roxton with 18.
The Eagles will enter the
North Lamar Tournament with
a 2-3 season record.

Delmar took two wins over
Avery Tuesday night downing
the Bulldogs 67-51 In the boys
game and outscorlng the girls
