"The Voice of the Prairie" performance time changed for Saturday
by YJ Staff
The Howard Payne
Department of Communica-
tions and Theatre presen-
tation of "The Voice of
the Prairie" has changed
its Saturday performance
so it won't coincide with
the Lady Jackets' NCAA
tournament basketball
game.
The Saturday perfor-
mance of "The Voice of the
Prairie" will move to a 2:30
p.m. matinee in the HPU
Theatre Building. The three
other performances will
remain the same: 7:30 p.m.
Thursday and Friday and
2:30 p.m. Sunday.
The Lady Jackets' basket-
ball game is scheduled for 7
p.m. Saturday in Brownwood
Coliseum.
Tickets to "The Voice of
the Prairie" are free to HPU
faculty staff and students.
Reservations may be made
by calling 325-649-8516 or
visiting the Communication
Theatre Building. Tickets
will also be available at the
door but reservations are
recommended.
"The Voice of the Prairie"
by John Olive is a heartwarm-
ing story of the adventures
of young Davey and Frankie
as told by the adult David.
Leon the radio entrepre-
neur is a slick New Yorker
who stays one step ahead of
the Federal Communication
Commission as he is broad-
casting without a license.
The story is told in both
1895 when Davey is a boy
and 1923 with the adult
David telling about his life
with Frankie the blind girl.
The New York Times
claimed the play
"Endearing" while the L.A.
Times remarked that it
was "A skillful play with a
deft heart."
