Baker Heights begins special night classes
Baker Heights: Special classes
The Baker Heights Church of Christ is
having special classes for men and women
on Thursday nights and a class for men
only on Friday nights.
Debbie Whitfield a teacher at Bowie
Elementary School is teaching the
women's class on "The Christian Graces."
Dean Stewart minister of evangelism is
teaching the Thursday men's class entitled
"Practical Ways to Serve God." These
classes are from 7-8:30 p.m.
Marvin Anccll the congregation's youth
minister is teaching the Friday class on
Ephcsians called "Chosen for -Riches."

college students into its members' homes
Sept. 19 after evening worship for food and

Bob Stradcr ACU football coach is
teaching the Sunday morning college class
on "Jesus and the People"
Hlllcrest: Outreach programs
The Hlllcrest Church of Christ is
working on Its outreach programs for the
fall. Tltls year the outreach team will go to
Mcxla Gatcsvilleand Van.
Allen Tappc campus minister is
teaching a Sunday morning class on
Hebrews called "A Portrait of Jesus."
Family groups also have started at
Hlllcrest on Thursday nights. Any students
who want to get involved can call the
church office.
Dr. Carl Brechccn Bible professor is
continuing a scries of lessons on "Costly
Discipleshlp" on Wednesday nights.
North 5th and Grape: Adopting
The North 5th and Grape Church of
Christ is "adopting" ACU students. All
students who place membership with the
congregation arc paired with a family so
they will have a "home" to go to for
Sunday meals.
University: Special collection
A special collection to help fund the
Church of Christ exhibit at the World's
Fair in Knoxvllle Tcnn. will be taken
Sunday by the University Church of Christ.
The university group will be divided Into
three classes Sunday morning. One class
will be for ' freshmen one for up-
pcrclassmcnandonefortransfcrsludcnls Handy Becton will again be the speaker
for the Wednesday night class His topic Is
"HeCarcs."
Southern Hills: Mission team
The Southern Hills Church of Christ's
mission team to Oshknsh. Wis .will lead a
session on their work and on vocation
missions in general Sept 18 at Southern
Hills.
The session will run from 8:30 a m
noon and coffee and doughnuts will be
served Anyone interested in vocational
missions is invited to attend
Woodlawn: Kenya
Or Bill Humble. Bible department
chairman will talk alxml missions con-
ditions in Kenya at Woodlawn Church of

Nine ACU faculty and staff members
will preach Sunday at various
congregations in the St. Louis and Kansas

The speakers represent ACU as part of
the Christian Education Sunday program
which was developed to promote Christian
education in the home church and other
areas said Dan Garrett director of
development.
Those speaking in the Kansas City area
will be Bill Decker associate professor of
Bible; Norman Archibald dean of
students; Dr. Ed Coates education
professor; and Dr. Tom Olbricht Bible
professor.
Speakers in the St. Louis area will be Dr.
Overton Paubus business professor; Dr.
Ed Mathews assistant professor of Bible;
Dr. Ed Headrick psychology department
chairman; Dr. Neil Lightfoot Bible
professor; and Garrett.
The program is not a commercial for
ACU said Garrett but the speakers use
the opportunity to talk with people about
ACU. "It is a PR tool that has been very
valuable to us" added Garrett.
The St. Louis and Kansas City
congregations will have dinners Sunday
following the service where speakers
meet parents alumni and prospective
students said Garrett.

direct the program. They schedule the
speaking encasement In ihplr rixnvoilvf
districts of the United States Garrett said.
The program extends to approximately
180 pulpits across the nation although
most are in Texas. About 70 speakers from
the faculty ond staff participate in the
program said Garrett.
