spring In mid-February but
tho early spring buds withered
beforo they bloomod this year.
Howoverf spring fevor has
finally become ovldent. and
after months of anticipation tho signs In
dicate spring may be in Abilene to stay-
Basoball games aro an Indication of
spring's arrival. Somo of tho early gomes
wero playod In rain sand storms and cold.
But the weather conditions have Im-
proved and the soason Is now in full
bloom with basoball diamonds as busy as
the traffic circle at 5 p.m.
The spectrum of flowers always adds
color to lawns and flower bods. Blue
bonnots have finally popped their heads
out and irises and tulips aro Joining the
parado. Even the beos havo como out to
find a bit of pollen
Tho sun's rays also bring palo-bodled
students out-of-doors. Nelson Park and
McKlnzle are popular "beach" spots.
People who went south during spring
break had a head start on thoir tans.
However many studonts found that their
tans wero precedod by various shades of
rod from thor first days In the sun.
One of the more unwelcome signs of
spring is hay fever stuffod-up sinuses and
runny noses. As the sandals and thongs
begin appoaring so do boxes of Kleenex
tucked under tho arms of studonts who
answer questions in class in that un-
mistakable nasal tone
Perhaps tho surest sign of spring is tho
"disease" that makes studonts want to do
anything but attend class or work on end-of-somester
papers. That's why on any
spring day you can find students walking
through the park playing Frisboe of
staring out the window during their 3 p.m.
classes. Tommy Dahlof
