William SUford a major american poet will read some of
bis work and conduct a question and answer session during
the Texas Association of Creative Writing Teachers' annual
convention Feb. 10-11 at ACU.
Staford who recently retired from his teaching position at
Lewis and Clark College in Portland Ore. has compiled a
long list of writings said Dr. C.W. WWerten associate
professor of English and local arrangement chairman of the
convention.
The writings Include "Allegiances" "Stories that Could be
True" and a collection of instructional assays titled "Writing
the Australian Crawl."
Staford is one ef the few major poets who lias any religious
beliefs and he is enthusiastic about coming to ACU said

Law pref essers from Baylor and Pepperdiae law schools
WlH be e campus Oct. 19 to talk with students interested bi

Ren Halm associate dean of Pepperdtee Law School and
professor David Gwinn ef Baylor Law School will talk to any
pre-law student regardless of major or classification.
Students will have the opportunity to ask questions that
concern suchtopks as kW school application. -
Interested students should sign up with Berake Scott in the
pkoMneat office in Room 301 of ZeJlner Hall. Students are
not committed to apply to either school by talking to the law

graduating class received national merit scholarships or

to the group. There also will be a program explaining the

Hunter serves on advisory council

Dr. Robert D. Hunter vice president
attended a meeting of the Advisory
Council for Technical-Vocational
Education Sept. 21-22 in Austin.
Hunter was appointed to the council
by former Gov. Dolph Briscoe and he Is
currently serving In his sixth and final
year on the council. Hunter is chairman
of the council this year.
The council is a state agency that
monitors the technical and vocational
education departments in Texas high
schools and colleges said Hunter.
The council has an annual seminar
during which businesses and industries
discuss education and the direction
education should take in preparing
Industrial arts students for the job
market
Hunter said the council honored the
longtime executive director ef e
council. Alton Ice. who has given fifty
years of service to the council. Ice will
retire and Will Reece will be the new
executive director said Hunter.
Hunter said the council honored Ice
and also talked about plans for 19M.
The council will have seminars
throughout nextyear and will publish a
periodica newsletter he said.
