from the Curtis Mathis Entertainment
Center by the Sing Song executive
committee. He said the VCR was
taken between noon Saturday Feb. 16
and 8:30 a.m. Moriday Feb. 18

iseum for the Christian Service Lun
cheon scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday.
Musick said as some members of the
group were leaving they went into the
double gym to see what would be
needed to decorate It. When they walk-
ed into the gym Musick said he notic-
ed the door proped open by a ramp
that had been used during Sing Song
to move things in and out of the gym.
Musick said he contacted campus
security as soon a he got home and
notified them of the open door
i Tommy Fanter campus security of-
oficer said the incident has been
classified as a burglary in the official
report. The burglary report dm been
given to the Abilene Police Depart-
ment and entered into the National
Crime Computer. Fanter said the com- -putcr
enables a stolen item to be iden-

The VCR wm rented with fund
taken up from the different clubs and
classes participating h Sing Seeg.
Schulle said "We have fcuad the
same -model VCR for $449 but the
sale representatives at Curtk Mathis
want us to pay them $699 in cash." He
said the cost of replacing the VCR
would come out of the Sing Song
proceeds.

and we expect to gross about 75J
from the show this year said Schul

tions originates. He said the cost of
replacing the VCR will not take any of
the money away from the proceed sug-
gestions. The cost will be absorbed by
funds taken from the Sing Song
budget. Schulle also said the school in-
surance would not cover the cost of the
VCR because' It was the property of
Curtis Mathis Entertainment Center.
The exact amount of money made this
year at Sing Song is not yet known.
Schulle saidthe review committee
will advise the Sing Song txtoff
committee on what should be doM
avoid similar situations In the future.
Schulle said some suggestion from the
review committee have already been
submitted to Jeff Nelsofl Slag Seng
coordinator. He said a sugfeatiea ms
been made to hire a security guard fer
the double gym at future Slag Songs.
The police report stated no sign of
forced entry. Fatter said there are no
leads and no suspects at thk time.

The women of Kappa Delian Shri
along with the City of Abilene Recrea-
tion Division co-sponsored a skate-a-thon
Saturday raising more than $800
to benefit the Abilene Special Olym-
pics program.
Special Olympics is a sports com-
petition for mentally and emotionally
retarded children as well as physically
handicapped children. The Abilene
area region 14 includes residents of
' the Abilene State School and Mesquite
Villa.
The 30 participants skated from
noon-5 p.m. at West Texas Skateway
said Lisa Helms service projects coor-
dinator for Kadies. Other skaters in-
cluded members of Kinsmen and Cen-
turion along with children from
Abilene recreation department pro-
grams said Helms junior speech
pathology and special education major
from Piano.
Each participant collected sponsors
to pledge money for every hour skated.
The skater?' proceeds will be combin-
ed into one" check said Helms. Kadies
will present the check March 2 during
a local telethon to benefit Special
Olympics.
The money raised will help pay for
the Special Olympicsparticlpants entry
fees accomodations at meets travel
expenses to the meets and an awards
banquet said Helms. The proceeds
will benefit approximately 700-800
participants from the Abilene area she
said.
Kadies also are involved with the
Special Olympics state basketball tour-
nament which will be played in
Moody Coliseum March 1-2. Helms
said they will decorate for the awards
banquet which will take place after the
tournament In Saint Vincent's Parish.
