Women's volleyball team
against tough competition
The women's intercollegiate
volleyball team will face some
strong competition this
weekend in Rose Field House
but with more power than
they've had before Coach Kay
Metcalf stated.
Tonight (Friday) they will
meet West Texas State and Sul
Ross who "will probably be the
toughest team they play" and
West Texas at 6:00 p.m. and 7:00
p.m. respectively.
On Saturday morning H-SU
will be closely watching the
actions of Tarleton State's stron-
giest player Mary Steed who
played in the World Games at
Sigma stays undefeated;
Limbaugh 'Player of Week'
Sigma and Alpha Kappa Psi
leaders of the two intramural
flag football divisions may have
staged a dress rehearsal for the
championship game Monday
night when they tied 7-7 in reg-
ulation time and had to go into
a sudden death playoff.
Sigma won the overtime
which is decided by yardage
gained and kept its undefeated
record. Sigma now has six wins
and no losses the best of any
team in the tournament and has
played more games than any
other team.
Troy Limbaugh of AKPsi was
named Player of the Week as he
led his team to a 26-0 victory
over Family last Tuesday. Lim-
baugh caught three touchdown
passes and intercepted two
passes.

H-SU will be using a new
offensive strategy in the games
playing five attackers. The team
will have five spikers and one
setter.
"We only have one setter
Cindy Ramos so a lot of pressure
will be put on her" Metcalf
stated.
Pat Glazener freshman from
Littlefield will be used as a set-
ter also. Spikers for the team
will be Ada and Dorothy
Feaster sisters from Colorado
The race was at about the
halfway mark after Monday
night's games with a break in
the action during the rest of the
week during the period of religi-
ous meetings on campus.

Christian Colleges. Last week
against ACC the team had a
two-two showing. They won four
scrimmage games against
McMurry Tues.
Metcalf said she is .trying to
bring the team along slowly and
expects to win a high percentage
of games.

feit over Tau then lost the sud-
den death playoff to Sigma;
Family beat the Gents 21-13 and
downed the Freshmen 23-6;
Sigma beat the Cowboy Band
14-2.
Rodeo team begins
season competition
Hardin-SimmonB Univer-
sity's rodeo team will see action
this weekend at New Mexico
Military Institute in Roswell
where this rogion's first
interecollegiate rodeo of the fall
season will be staged.
H-SU is sending out a full
team so far. The National Inter-
collegiate Rodeo Association
'allows six boys and three girls
from each school to compete for
points which are totaled at the
end of each year to determine
regional champion.
All three members of the girls'
team are veterans of intercol-
legiate competition and all
three advanced to the national
finals at Bozeman Mont two
years ago. They are the
Boeshart sisters Linda and
Lianne of Abilene and Becky
Odom of Trent.

not competing for NIRA points

The fall season in the
Southwestern Region will con-
sist of three rodeos the first at
Roswell the second at Eastern
New Mexico University in Por-
tales and the third at Sul Ross
University in Alpine.
H-SU's girls team looms as a
contender for regional honors.
Linda Boeshart was champion
all-around cowgirl in 1971 and
was runner-up in 1972. Becky
Odom was second runner-up for
the title in 1972.
Underwood also is expected to
accumulate some points espe-
cially in bullriding. He was
rookie bullrider of the year in
the Central Rodeo Association
in 1972 and was runner-up for
the all-round rookie cowboy
title.
Miss Cadenhead has com-
peted in a number of junior and
amateur rodeos in West Texas
and will be gaining experience
for future NIRA competition.
