'Bad Money'
To be Topic
For Institute
"Bad Money" is an increasing
problem especially with small
businesses says Dr. Ted Hala-
tin director of Hardin-
Simmons' Small Business Insti-
tute and the problem will be ex-
amined thoroughly in a program
at 7 p.m. Thursday Apr. 8.
Emphasis will be on bad
checks and bad credit cards
with speakers from banks and
other organizations on the prog-
ram. Dr. Halatin said any one
interested is invited to attend
and that advanced registration
through his office is encouraged.
There will be a $3 fee.
"Bad money takes many
forms" Dr. Halatin said. "We
will examine the bad money
that results from stolen checks
and credit cards improper use of
credit cards and checks returned
due to insufficient funds etc."
"Our objectives are to help the
business owner understand this
serious business problem and to
help the business implement
procedures that will limit the
acceptance of bad moeny."
The program will be held at
the Moody Center beginning at
7 p.m.

Palladini to Play 'Tartuff e'
New York Actor is Guest Artist
A professional New York
actor Tony Palladini will be the
guest artist in "Tartuffe" the
final spring production for
Hardin-Simmons University's
Van Ellis Theatre.
Palladini will play the title
role in the French satire by
Moliere.
"Tartuffe" will run Apr. 13
15-17. Tickets will go on sale one
week before the production
opens.
Abilenians in the cast include

'Yankee Doodle'
Coming to Town
If your American history is a
little rusty brush up on our
nation's past "makers and shak-
ers" Apr. 10 at the Abilene
Civic Center. The musical revue
"Yankee Doodle" is coming to
the Key City with a 3 p.m.
matinee and a 7:30 evening per-
formance. The musical revue
will be on tour this spring in 30
Texas cities as a Bicentennial of-
fering of The University of
Texas Drama Department.
Local sponsor for engaging
the performance is the Junior
League of Abilene. All tickets
are $1.00 and may be purchased

"Yankee Doodle" written by
Aurand Harris a noted Ameri-
can playwright of children's
dramas zips through 150 years
of American history in song
dance and mime. The 85-minute
show brings Jto life national
leaders such as Washington
Jefferson and Lincoln; inventors
Eli Whitney Alexander
Graham Bell and Thomas Edi-
son; athletes Jim Thorp Ty
Cobb and Babe Zaharias and
many lesser known heroes and
heroines such as Hyman Lip-
man who put the rubber eraser
on pencils and William Semple
who patented chewing gum.
The 12 member cast is made
up of former students or recent
graduates of the U. T. Drama
Dept. as well as several U. T.
drama students who are taking
off the spring semester to gain
performance experience. Direct-
ing the show is Assoc. Prof.
Coleman A. Jennings U. T.
Drama Dept. faculty member
and president of Children's The-
ater Association of America.
More than half of the music
for the play consists of tradi-
tional tunes familiar to most
Americans. The rest is original
music composed by Mort Stine
formerly of Austin.
"Yankee Doodle" had its pre-
miere at U. T. Austin in the fall
of 1974. It met with such en-
thusiastic response that it was
accepted for the touring prog-
ram of the Texas Commission on
the Arts and Humanities.

will attend the Annual Orienta-
tion Program at Ft. Sill Olka.
Thursday through Saturday

"The orientation is designed

will design the costumes.
This is the second H-SU pro-
duction in which a New York
actor has been imported for the
lead role. Last sorinc Georce
Mbran was the guest artist for
H-SU's production of "Sherlock
Holmes."
