To Attend
Symposium
Dr. Lawrence Clayton head of
the English Department at
Hardin-Simmons will attend
the third annual Rhetoric Sym-
posium in Denton Apr. 30.
The symposium is sponsored
jointly by East Texas State Uni-
versity North Texas State Uni-
versity and Texas Women's
University.
The meeting which Clayton
describes as a "forum for discus-
sing rhetoric" will feature Louis
Milic of Cleveland State Uni-

An evening of light informal
music will be presented at the
Chamber Music Recital by the
Hardin-Simmons School of
Music at 8 p.m. Friday Apr. 23
in Woodward-Dellis Recital
Hall.
Featured in the recital will be
Walter Olivares violinist;
Dorothie Owens cellist; Dr. Viv-
ian Siao pianist and Dr. John
Campbell pianist. They are
members of the H-SU music fa-
cultv. .

Chamber Music Recital
To be Presented Friday
Chamber music began as a
personal form of entertainment.
It was first performed in the
parolors of homes. The informal
atmosphere made the music
easy listening for the audience.
The program will include
movements from "Sonata for
Cello and Piano" by Claude A.
Debussy to be -performed by
Mrs. Owens and Dr. Campbell;
movements from "Sonata No. 1
in D Major Opus 12" by Ludwig
Van Beethoven to be performed

Holds Banquet

versity chapter of Kappa Mu'
Epsilon a national college
mathematics honorary society
held its spring banquet on
Saturday Apr. 10 in Room 2 10
of Moody Center.
Dr. Landon Colquitt profes-
sor in mathematics at Texas
Christian University was the
guest speaker.
The society inducted seven
new members during the ban-
quet. Ttfe officers of the organi-
zation are Tim Zukas junior
from Los Alamos N.Mex. pres-
ident; Sharon Carver junior
from Las Cruces N. Mex.vice
president; and Susan Porter
junior from' Odessa secretary.

In Tri-College
Spring Semester
In the Tri-College Continuing
Educaion spring semester prog-
ram 302 students have enrol-
led according to the office of Dr.
G. Norman Weaver professor in
religious education at Hardin-
Simmons and director of the
Tri-College program. There are
20 different classes offered in-
cluding golf tennis and bicycle
repair.
Work has begun on the sum-
mer class schedule. It is
scheduled to begin the week of
June 7. Any suggestions as to
preferred classes and their of-
fered times will be welcomed
Dr. Weaver said.
