one of those young men that all

cupy in any community.
Miss Oreon Mayse says trucking
sure pays in Aransas Pass, for the
beans, radishes, mustard and let-
tuce she plucked from her garden
and fixed for dinner certainly
tasted good to her.
The contractor has completed

overhauling the engines on the
“Enterprise” says they are now in
good shape and will make it one

Gapt. Ludlsn had two of his
boats transferred from the railroad
tracks to be launched in Red Fish
bay at an early date. Some of
our young ladies will be expected
to christen the boats and make a
memorable event.
Mrs. N. C. Fields has gone to
Port Aransas to spend a couple of
weeks while her husband puts in
his new lumber yard at that place.
They own a great deal of property
on Mustang Is1 and and will be a_
valuable asset to the business and
social features of that busy town
Elder E. M. Borden of BatesvilU
Ark. commenced a protracted
meeting at the Church of Christ-
last Sunday which was well at-
tended despite the rain. The
meeting will close next Sunday.
He is a son cf cur worthy and es-
teemed citizen, J. D. Borden.
Mrs. Julia Brooke took her Sunday
School class on an outing the other
day to St. Joseph’s Island to cele-
brate the birthday of Monroe
Spreigle. She had the boats
Ohio and Pataskala for the trip
and the children were loud in
their praises of the hospitality of
tlieir teacher and benefactor.
Thomas Gordon Bennett of St.
Louis, accompanied by Buster
Brown, spent Sunday in Aransas
Pass.. In the afternoon they went
fishing and Buster Brown caught a
fine lot of crabs, His dog “Tige”
was with him and they excited a
great deal of mirth for the children.
Pie' is a married man and says he
i3 5 1 years old and has more fun
than any other man on earth.
Mr. Knimb, traveling salesman
for Willman, Stern and Krause of
Galveston, was visiting one of the
lovliest flowers in our social gar-
den Saturday and went to Corpus
Christi Sunday morning. Some of
his customers here say that they
feel certain that now he will make
Aransas Pass every week, though
some other towns may not see
him for a mouth. Cupid is a great
stimulant to activity.
Dr. Ralph Steiner, president of
the State Board of Health of Aus-
tin, in company wfih Dr. W. S.
Willis, recently appointed resi-
dent physician in charge of the
Quarantine station at Aransas Pass
visited this city Saturday on a tour
of inspection and they visited
the station in the afternoon and
were surpr>sed and gratified at
the rapid improvements going on
in Aransas Pass.
